Hi All,
The clutch in my Jimny has been getting progressively stiffer and stiffer. It is now at the point where it is almost impossible to use. So i cant take it out at the mo . While it was having a service i got the mechanic to check it out and he said that it would need replacing. I asked if i should replace it with a heavy duty clutch as i use it for 4wding, he said that because it is a 4wd it already had a heavy duty clutch. I didnt think that OEM clutchs would have been that heavy duty.
Can you get heavy duty clutches?
Does anyone know if you can get them for the Jimny?
Should i get one if they are available?
And finally can anyone recommend somewhere to get this done in Christchurch?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Clutch Replacement Advice
Just get a standard one. HD clutches increase the stress on the cable and can cause them to fail.

Hey mate
I run my own clutch business up here in Auckland but can sort you out a few prices if you would just need the details of the truck. From what your've described it sounds like you have got clutch cable issues(I'm not totally familar with the jimny if they are cable or not) but the symptoms sound like that of a seizing cable. Whether or not you fit a new clutch you need to fix the cause of it. Which in this case it sounds like the actuation system, fitting a new or fixing the old cable is alot cheaper than a new clutch plus labour and you might still have alot of life left in the clutch. I see the Mechanic has tried to free it up and lubed it also, sometimes cables just need to be replaced, the liners or the cable can wear and it's just time to change them, sorry we don't do them but some of the guys above may know of good sources thanks.
