(No longer) URGENT East Auckland

Postby MihiT » Mon Feb 22, 2016 12:21 pm

So I have the misfortune of being in Auckland, away from my tools, and worse, the twuk has decided to be sad.
Symptoms: 1- grinding noise when at very low speed on the brakes, occurs in gear or neutral, 4wd or 2, hubs locked or open.
2- difficult to reverse, same noise, will not roll backwards, even downhill in neutral.

No problem rolling forward. Handbrake locks the driveshaft just aft the box. So I assume not.

Went to 3 shops who couldn't get to it until tomorrow, of them Cascade Motors was the most friendly and helpful, in actually taking 5 minutes to even look, so a quick plug for them.
Thanks to mudlva for the offer of his garage, but ended up driving it home to mine and I'll get under it tomorrow.

De-laminated brake pads!

Postby MihiT » Sun Mar 26, 2017 2:35 pm

So it was quite a while ago that I fixed this, but the FL inside brake pad had completely de-laminated, so it was metal-on-metal! on my 6 month old NEW rotor!
