Gidday all.
4WD hunting at the moment.
It will be used for hunting on any farm I can access and up tracks as well doing some wheeling for the hell of it.
As an ex mechanic I have a health distrust of anything with wheels so taking some time to find a truck that wont see me dust off my tools too soon/often.
So farm Ive been looking at Surfs (original huh) SWB patrols, Mu/Bighorn 2.8L. Maybe a Terrano.
We have a 2WD Navara and while slow its no worries to own.
What ya think?

70 Landcruisers are solid things, narrower and lighter than a patrol and have oversize running gear.
Re: Another newbie jafa
Can't go too far wrong with a patrol/safari yes they are heavy but strong with it, all you'll need to do to is a decent set of mud terrains & maybe a small lift depending on tyre size & maybe a turbo

Depends how much you want to spend.

Famous last words but Im trying to spend less on vehicles - given up bike racing and driving nice cars.
Looked at Vitaras but too small. Patrols are nice but dear.
70 Cruisers are great but pricey.
In weakness I went to a car yard today re a 4WD. Got shown a flash $32k Prado petrol then some Rav 4 type thing.
Ah thanks mate see ya! Ya gotta smile. I said 'off road' - was hoping for a trade in, should have said eh

Road or MX?
Get a Terrano td27t, cheap as chips and with a couple of small mods pretty damn reliable and reasonably capable off road.

Both - motard and buckets.
I want another road bike but nothing fast. I have to stick to it this time - surely the ticket fairy gives up on everyone at some time!
I have looked at Terranos -our Navara is good so far.
What mods do you suggest?

A 2.5" exhaust from the turbo back, 31" mud/all terrain tyres and a snorkel is a good start.
CHANGED TEAMS: 92 Nissan Terrano for fishing and touring, stock for now... slight tweaking (31" mt, snorkel, hooks) to come.
Coming soon... Vitara on silverstones

Depends how serious you wanna get. I'd start with 31X10.5's, decent shocks and lift 'er up a bit. Idler brace. Then prolly a decent exhaust and an intercooler. Crank the boost too. Get rid of the egr. With this stuff it'll be pretty capable. From there the sky's the limit (or at least your wallet!).
