Thanks mattman and sublime. Guard did take a while. I copied the idea from a mates truck.

Went for a drive up takapari road today for a test. Tires are awesome and stay pretty clean. It works pretty well considering it has a open diff. Its flexs pretty good in my opinion.

The only issue is thr diff gearing I need to sort out. I made a post in the nissan section for this. 35s make the gearing wrong for the road so it is tough to drive at 100km/h. Hills absolutely kill it.

My auto trans developed a buzzing noise so I changed it for a manual transmission. It has pretty much solved the problem it is far better to drive now.

Next step is to get it tuned and maybe get a boost compensator fitted? Does anyone know how much this usually costs? And is it worth getting the pump modded?

Do a search here for something along the lines of a 12ml plunger and probably the top from a pre 96 nissan mistral or wd21 factory turbo terrano is what you are after. talk to simon As he has done this to his terrano.

I have fitted the pre 96 injector pump to my eti mistral and wound up the fuel but haven't done the plunger mod yet.

try these

If I can find a PTO gearbox I will use the standard winch cradle (maybe shorten it a bit and make it smaller) other wise some round a tube bumper and sliders etc rear bar will much the same. Bar work is last on my list at this stage.

My list at the moment is:
1. Adjust rockers and check for wear
2. Install boost gauge
3. Relocate EGT probe to turbo manifold
4. Take out injectors and get them tested and maybe rebuilt
5. Get it tuned or see what I can do
6. Install uhf radio
7. Look at winch if I can find a PTO gearbox
8. Bar work

But during all of this is drive it when I can. Progress is slow at the moment.

I have managed to get a bit of work done on the truck recently. I picked up a pto winch and all the bits. I didnt like how much it stuck out so I made a new winch mount. There a few pics below:

Might have to relocate the number plate :-)

I still have to fit the gearbox and driveshaft for the winch.

My list now is:
1. Adjust rockers and check for wear
2. Fit PTO gearbox
3. Bar work

Hey Crash. I am keeping my transfer case and took my old gearbox the scrap metalers about 3 months ago.

Hi all, it has been a while since I have had any time to work on the truck. I have been lucky and got a bit of stuff done over the last few weeks.

Image

My road mud guards arent fitting the best with the new tires, so I will have to take them off.

Image

What have all the safari owners with simexs done to carry one on the rear door? I put it on the other day and it is too wide to fit open the back door as it hits on the tire.

I have seen pictures of the separate wheel carriers, does anyone know if you can buy a bearing and sleeve kit?

It didn't cost that much, I bought some stainless steel and the nuts and bolts then its just the time to make it. I can't remember in terms of a dollar figure.
