New to New Zealand 4wding

Postby Challenged » Sun Apr 05, 2015 10:23 am

Hi guys.
I'm new to the 4x4 scene here in NZ. Used to drive when in SA. I ha e bought a 2002 challenger 2,8. I'm very happy with her so far. She has not disappointed. I have done a few solo trips around the country. I am looking for family oriented club need to meet more like minded families. I still have a few mods I would like to do to the wagon but for now she is good. I am based in Hamilton any suggestion for some nice drives where I don't need a total super modified truck to take the family.
I have done a few drives to Ruapuke beach and I noticed on Whaanga road wha looks like an off road track. Is this any good and will a standard vehicle manage it.
Look forward to hearing from some guys.

Has it got a limited slip in the rear axle, the biggest tyres you can put on even with 50mm lift are 32's

Yeah, it's got the ls rear end. I am aware of the tyre sizes. Been doing heaps of research on these vans. It will get a few mild mods. Still want it to be a family holiday rig. Probably just a 50mm lift with a custom front bar and winch and some 32s. But I am looking for a vehicle to build a full bush rig.

Wouldn't rims with more -offset which = wider track width mean closer to same width as Safaris/Cruisers which would mean falling in their ruts?

Thanks for the heads up. The safaris and cruisers do dig some serious ruts. The mods will be coming shortly all of which have been mentioned are on the to do list already. Just need. The funds now.
