Newby. Terrano v6 owner

Hey guys I bought myself a terrano maybe 6 months ago. Its stock as it comes. Have a few questions to ask. Firstly giving it a lift. I see you can buy lift kits for it for like 100 bucks but then you can get full suspension lifts etc? What's the difference? Are those cheaper lift kits just sort of a show pony sort of deal? Also I've got the v6 petrol engine what's the pros and cons between the two? And finally thinking about getting some mud tyres for it. I want to be able to get the biggest baddest looking ones I can't without doing to much to the truck. But I also want to make sure it's legit road wise because my missus drives it to work sometime  and should she have a crash I don't want it to effect my insurance. Bit long winded sorry.

TIA

Welcome.

Firstly what year terrano?

Secondly do some reading up/googling on body lifts and suspension lifts

Thirdly 31x10.5r15s are the largest tyres that fit to an unmodified (assuming early square shape-WD21) terrano and 32x11.5r15s or 33x10.5r15s are the largest that will fit a lifted terrano.

Fourthly don't be afraid to use the forum search or Google the site directory as a lot of information you seek has already been covered here and questions like this can fall on deaf ears.

Good luck

The V6 models have much stronger manual gearbox and front diff (R200) and double-offset CV joints (28 spline outer)

33x10.5s will fit standard unlifted (just) on the factory Lego wheels (15x7 alloy)

Hey sweet guys thanks for the help. My next problem is I think my auto locking hubs are gone. I've got a pair off a mate they are 28 spline. After doing some research online there's seems to be abit of confusion about them changing the year of 1993 from 27 to 28. Just want to make sure I've got the right ones before jacking it up and pulling the tire off.

TIA

easy to check if theyre gone, jump under truck in 2wd and hand spin the front driveshaft with two hands (either way, try both). if the hubs work you'll hear two clicks as they engage and you wont be able to spin the driveshaft by hand anymore. if they dont work or are weak youll be able to keep spinning the shaft.

cant help you with spline count. its not hard to take hub off and count tho

All the V6 models (1986.5-1995) were 28 spline outer (29 spline inner) so you should be good to go.
Only the diesel models had the 1993 changeover that you're talking about, before 1993 the diesel models had weaker tripod type CV joints with 27 spline stub axle.

You don't need to jack it up to replace the hubs.

:)

Negative. My diesel 95 has tripoid inners/weaker axles. Mine being one of the last made might have got the leftover bin mind you.

I stand corrected.
Shit that's interesting.
Nissan can be unpredictable like that!
