I have put a swith the 88safari there is a green and blaCk wirer I PUT THE SWITH ON THE BLACK ONE .BUT DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT .

I would like to make a discoectable speedo cable that i don't have to pull the speedo out or crawl under my truck, Has anybody got any ideas???

Unless its an electrically fed speedo, I cant see how it could be done.

Its a 92 mu with mechanical speedo, I was just hoping someone may have found some sort of connector that just pushes together, and be situated under the bonnet around the fire wall somewhere. Dreams are free!!!

we had this big-brother-is-watching conversation a while back...

My understanding on this issue is that you can't legally just add a switch into the dash for turning off the clock while offroad. Its just plain-and-simple illegal, and if you get caught with one fitted I would imagine you would have some explaining to do.

You need to log your on- and off-road activity in a proper drivers log then present it to the LTSA for a refund... some of you logging guys will be able to clarify that I'm sure since thats mainly (and farmers of course) who the rule is for - not 4WDers who maybe do 5k's offroad each weekend.

The effort required to claim back such small amounts is just not worth it in my view, and the actual cost is negligible anyway if you work it out.

Have decided to flag that idea because i have a work vechile now, and work on something thats probably even more grey untill i get it certified if possible!!

take out ya dash ... remove inner pannel screws in the back is a small round black eletric driver cut the fine red wire link in a switch ... so u can have it going if da cops pull u up top check odomiter easy as did mine in 15 minutes <<< nuts

p.s this way u still have ya spedo working but no millage unless u flik the switch on

Went down this road 20years ago, Used an Eton axle speedo converter box,the one that alters the speedo depending on whether your in Hi or Low diff range. Removed the low range plantetry gears, did a couple of other mods, quite a bit of time spent on it. Now that ive got a good 4x4 I cant muck around with the Kms (oil changes) So its hanging on the wall.Fitted an hour meter, which cost more than the saveing on RUCs.

I have just started running 33'' tyres on my bighorn and because of the change diameter am saving roaduser charges all the time now so is a bit of a compensation for the price rego is getting .

Re the posts re speedo and cutting the red wire and putting in a switch
I've a 2006 Ssangyong 2.9 KORANDO, diesel with led speedo, lost as to what wire to cut, I live rural and isolated, jealous of of road, so would appreciate any suggestions
The motor and auto gearbox are from Mercedes, 5 Cylinder engine and 4 speed auto.

late model vehicles are a bit tricky. in a lot of cases the ecu uses speed as an input. with no speed input they can go into limp mode.
some don't even have a gearbox speed sensor, but use the abs sensor rings as speed inputs.
