Postby mudlva » Sun Apr 10, 2016 7:50 pm

Righto there lads and laddess.
Looking at some from of video device.
Ive got no idea whether what i want exists nor if budget is adequate

Specs i think it may require.
.easy to use
.easy to edit
.easy to down load plus up load to youtube etc
.absorb vibration etc to allow viewers easy watching
.water mud and crap protected. It will be in a open buggy so it will end up getting wet etc
.no idea of budget but maybe $300-$500 if i realy had to go that high
.may be link up with a rear camara so i can use rear view at the same time
.may be upwards of 10hrs record time

Anything else that i may or should need

I got the Ion pro 2 which is similar to i think the gopro3..? not sure but it does what i need it to.. only thing is can't change battery's so have to make sure it charged first and carry a charging bank with you..I paid $200 i think and was from the warehouse online shop.. most go pros are like 500+ with similar specs.. would like to get another but price is the thing..

jump onto aliexpress and search for action cams
cheap as and fairly good quality film from them

flatmate has the sj4000 and it seems pretty solid construction wise

ive just bough 2 of the sj7000 model so will see how they go

For the price, the SJ4000 is pretty good... not a GoPro... but pretty good non the less

From memory, Ebay, NZ$120 ish with 3 batteries, here in a week, with a followup email asking if everything was alright and to just ask if i needed help with it...

I use it mounted inside the windshield, plunged in to the Aux power, and have turned on its dash cam function, so it starts and stops with the engine.
It did come with a sealed and partly sealed, clear cases, windsheild mount, and head mount.
it has a wifi function, that i never really use...

A couple of vids i fillmed on it

That seems like a good deal just brought one
Anyone know of a half decent one that's not bulky suited more for helmet on a bike

You could try the sony action cam,is a bit more streamlined for going on side of a helmet.

I have a Contour (Same profile as the Sony). I bout it instead of a GoPro as I thought it's shape would be better on a helmet. It's ok but if you are wearing goggles etc (I ski) then it's actually a pain). I later purchased a GoPro, and using the little "J arm" mount (which I think they come with from factory now) then it mounts neatly on the front of the helmet. It's above your eye level but below the top of your helmet, which means you don't catch it on things. So I vote for a Gopro (or similar) for helmet mounting. I guess it would be sport and helmet specific though.

So far its good. The gopro editing software is fairly easy to use - Im by no means a techno geek

First time using it

I trialed a GoBandit. It was good besides a few prototype kind of issues. I could be wrong but I believe Sony purchased GoBandit to create their GPS camera's.

Contour also make a GPS camera. I have a non-GPS Contour that I like (but as above, for head mounting I prefer the GoPro)
