Hi, I have had a problem. I managed to hydrolic my 4Y engine and put a conrod out the side of the block.
To get things running again at a cheap price I have purchased a 3Y carb motor to replace the 4Y. My question is would it be a good option to replace the 3Y carb head with the 4Y EFI head off my buggered motor?
Should I try and keep the EFI or go to carb, will the 4Y head fit on the 3Y block?
Thanks for any advice cheers

Re: Fixing my 4Y
from memory when my truck had a 3y in it the head actually had 4y on it
Think may be they use the same head any way i'm pretty sure you will be able to use the 4y efi head on the 3y block and it would be good to keep the efi as its heaps better offroad than a shitty old carb.

Bit of a tread jack here but it may be of use to you guys. I have a 4Y motor with the injection setup on it here that I will be getting rid of very soon. Sing out if ya need any bits (incl loom)

Re: Fixing my 4Y
well just gotta 32/36 webber carb, with the adaptor ,I know efi is better but ill try this out as it was the cheaper option and ive herd the webber carbs are pretty good, should be running this week ,
Re: Fixing my 4Y
what sort of adaptor did you get for the 32/36 ? ive just gone down the route myself except ive pulled the 3y out droped a crate 4y in then bought a adaptor plate that i had to modify get longer bolts and longer studs then once the 32/36 was on i made up a custom air cleaner bracket and put a 9" air cleaner on now the big thing with the 32/36 is getting your floats right.
Re: Fixing my 4Y

Re: Fixing my 4Y
I still have an EFI setup minus comp here (3Y). Manifolds are bolted to the head still (head is rooted) and has injectors etc. Has loom as well. Come take it away for a box of the brown gold.

Got mine all hooked up, runs a million times better than with the carb, like driving a whole new truck. For a box I would be grabbing it if I had'nt already got the bits
