1UZFE Thermostat

Postby Huffa » Mon Aug 19, 2013 9:51 pm

Can someone please tell me where I could get a thermostat for my 1UZFE from? My local mechanic ordered a genuine Toyota stat but it didnt fit, any ideas appreciated.

Thanks for that. I was wanting to get a slightly hotter thermostat if possible. Mine is a 82 degree and my truck is running a bit on the cold side on cold days. Would there be other options to those two thermostats listed on the web site quoted?

whats the motor in? do u use offroad? hows it run in summer? 82c is the factory thermostat setting as far as i know so it shouldnt be an issue to run it unless yours is stuck open.

Its in a double cab Hilux, manual box. Runs good in summer about half on the gauge which is where I want it, its just on cool days open road running it runs a bit cold. I dont do excessive amounts of off roading.

What rad and fan setup u using? Is fan temp controlled? Do u have a proper temp gauge or just relying on factory gauge?

Standard late model radiator, has a big elec fan that is on a t stat, but the cooling system is so efficient the fan hardly ever goes, only while creeping around off road

Just relying on factory gauge, but have not doubt that its correct

Mine sits on 90 open open road pushing 35s and auto. My fan is set to come on at 94 and off at 92. The factory gauges are very inaccurate. My advise is get an aftermarket gauge (not a cheap $30 one) and fit sensor before the thermostat in alloy housing and get a true reading of the temp the motor is running at. There is usually upto 10 degrees of diference in temps depending where u put sensor. I put mine beside the other two temp sensors on the 1uz water bridge below the where the coil leads cross the top of the engine.

If its running cold its probably because the thermostat is knackered.

I don't know anyone that has a cold running 1UZ!

Change the stat with a factory one and fit a decent aftermarket gauge with a dedicated sender and I am sure you will find it runs around 90c.

Matt.
