3.8 holden engine leaking

Postby aroma » Mon Jul 27, 2015 5:48 pm

Hi All
am looking at putting a commy mtr into the jeep but the engine I have located has a water leak on both side by the front engine mounts
is this likely to be frost plugs or more serious, has been parked outside for a while by the look of the Grass
don't need to buy another lemon or a future problem

Cheers
Warren

Don't know the answer to your question, but for what a commy motor goes for these days surely you would just buy one that you know is a good runner to save your self any potential hassle?
As someone who has put a fucked motor in (was told it was good), just to have to pull it out again, just spend a little extra coin.

Unlikely both side frost plugs start leaking at the same time. leaky water pump would possibly get both sides wet at once. pop the belt off and see what the water pump bearing feels like. one spanner in 2 seconds tale the belt off. pump like $50
