Trials roll over... Water hazards

Postby kbushnz » Sun Dec 14, 2014 9:31 am

Hi All....
This was in the herald this morning..
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/artic ... d=11373928
Could have had a real bad outcome if it wasn't for having a lot of people power around.
Glad to see the guys were all ok....

Some food for thought for those setting tracks or away for the weekend.....What would happen if ???
Cheers Calvin

and you can fall off the road into a ditch full of water and drown to, and you would not have 20 dd people standing around watching while it happens,

Trials is a competition sport that has a element of risk, and looking at it from another point of view its a damn sight safer than cricket and rugby.

The media pisses me right off

Rather than running a story on the event, how good it was, what the the weather was doing, how many entry's, where some of the competitors have travelled from attend the event, how many people competed, who won, and a few comments from the competitors, they choose this.

They pick a roll over that took less than 30 seconds to sort out and try and put a negative spin on the event, let alone the sport.

Bet ya it was an awesome day, a bit damp, lotsa horse power and some wicked driving skills on display 8) 8) 8)

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Exactly what Pete said.

Media have not spoken to anyone about this. The media person behind this article did not inform the host club or national competition committe that he was on site as he is supposed to :-(

As usual he has put his own spin on it (self righting vehicles :-D )

There are guidelines in place when setting courses regarding water depth. The course is inspected by stewards prior to the event.

This was an unfortunate incident at a motorsport event which is no different to a rider falling off his bike and breaking a leg at Cemetary Circuit or a drag racer hitting the wall at 200kph or more.

His fellow competitors were right there on the spot and got him out as quickly as possible.

It is motorsport and with any form of motorsport comes inherant risks that we all know are there.

There is no need to read into this reporters article too far and you can all be assured that Regan, the co-driver in question is fine and well and looking forward to the next event.

I don't see any negative in the article.
They are just showing an incident that could have been fatal but turned out fine due to the support crew on hand.

I thought the TV3 news item was quite good. To be honest I'm a bit surprised the item was so long given no one was harmed.
