tyre heights (inflated diameter)

Postby skid » Sat Mar 08, 2014 8:22 am

Will update once at home instead on phone but heres some pics of our measurements at work of tyre heights.

All measurements were done on a 15x8" rim with the tyre inflated to 30 psi.

Very interesting results.......

Bugger it. Failing to load pics from fone . Watch this space

Hummmm i wonder if the 37 creepy crawler side walls are being pulled in to much if they are fitted to a 8" rim.
Would if hoped it to be at least 25/30 mm taller than the other 35's

37" Creepy should be on an 11 or 12 inch rim.

Are you sure the Silverstone and Simex 35/11.5-15 measurements are around the right way?

Agreed. Had a mates (very near) new 35x11.5 Silverstones and my new 35x11.5 Simex both mounted on my 8.5 rims sitting side by side and the Simex was noticeably larger.

The rim and pressure need to be identical each time to ensure the only variable being measured is the tyre diameter.

Food for thought.

didn't you read the first post

All measurements were done on a 15x8" rim with the tyre inflated to 30 psi.

Yep, good point.
I can't 100% guarantee they were exactly the same. We had just pumped them both up for tarmac travel and cant imagine we had much variation in pressure.

Last time I was down south I got show a couple of brand new sets of silverstones and on the same rim at the same pressure there was a good half inch difference in height, we also had a older silverstone that was about a inch shorter again, which is about right for the older tyres. I was also told that they had seen silverstones even bigger turn up as well. Strange thing was that the tyres could have the same batch lot and mould number on the side wall. Took sum pics of the different ones inflated on rims, which ill post up when I get back
