I need to replace the tyres on my terrano, doing a set of 5 31s
I'm leaning towards the Goodyear wrangler AT, wha would you recommend? I DONT want to go Bridgestone or Firestone,
What are your thoughts on Goodyear, Nitto, Cooper and Mickey t?
Cheers Jeff

Do you go offroading with it...you may find 31's don't reach the bottom of the ruts anymore, just saying. wrangler at's are good.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.
Re: Opinions on 31s
Just after some ats, mainly on road with bit of gravel and odd mud trip, its only a tow wagon. I really do like the look of the Nittos
Re: Opinions on 31s
if you've got shallow pockets or shopping on a budget you can forget about Cooper and Mickey t, if you want good long wearing the Coopers do good mileage and have good on road manners , I don't know shit about goodyear or nittos

While I'm not exactly rolling in money I want a tyre that will last and those 4 little bits of rubber are the only thing connecting ya with the road so only want a decent tyre
Re: Opinions on 31s
Just got some kumhos kl71s and they are the best m.t s ive every driven on the road they're quiet and handle really well. Cheap to for 31s you can pick them up for 240 a tyre through online tyre shop.

Have a look at the GT Radial Savero AT Plus. I found them to be great value and got a good long life out of them, they also worked surprisingly well off road to the point that I stopped changing to my MT's unless I was heading to the coast
Re: Opinions on 31s
Coopers are the best driving mud tyre I have ever driven on the road ,
I had a set of gt radial ats and they wer no good excessive road noise on my truck , currently have kl71s on my big white gu and they don't balance up that nicely and give a bit of shimmy but do have a low amount of road noise and seem to handle ok and work well on the beach and softer terrain but do clog reasonably easily in the deep stuf , Of the other tyres I have owned/ driven bridgestone km2s are great all round ,
If you wanted a good affordable mud tyre and are not as worried about road noise the federals are very impressive offroad in nz conditions ,
If you are on a tight budget the archilles are an option at under 800 for a full set fitted and balanced but you do get what you pay for , The goodyear wranglers I brought new were THE WORST 4x4 tyre I have ever had , I could compare them to driving sf330 eagers on ice ,
THESE ARE ONLY MY OPINIONS !!!
Also another cheap tyre I liked for a cheap mud tyre was the maxxis mudders got great ks out of the hard compound but were prone to aquaplaining somewhat ,

Thanks for the opinions so far, the Goodyear was my main option due to the fact that my old man had them on his jeep, and it's nice on the road, I'm not concerned about $$$ or their ability In full on mud, it's mainly gonna be used to tow and commute in
Re: Opinions on 31s
IMO. If it's just for the road then Goodyear wranglers AT are awesome. I put about 5000km on 31 ATs before going to 33 MUDs and I still miss them.
They weren't that good off road but they were fantastic onroad.

A bit late but I find the maxxis 751 at are quite good on-road, and my Maxxis Buckshots are very well mannered on road and do alright in the tame offroad they see. Both are told to get good distance on road too.
Re: Opinions on 31s
If you can afford them, I recommend Maxis Bighorns. I have them on my Terrano and will be getting some for my Cruiser too.
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

hankook dynamic mt, could fit your needs, not bad price and look sharp, cant say how they handle tho,
i know you said your not interested in bridges but i have to say my dueler mt is my favorite tire yet, the new pattern is great, good road feel, agresive in mud sand and snow, shit on ice.
ive been places on these tires i actually couldnt believe, juss sayin
