I have 33's on my DC LN106. needed a 2" body lift to make them clear the body (without cutting)

Pretty sure the main problem area is the firewall clearance, so if you push the front diff forward a bit they won't hit. Also the bigger the offset the more likely you are to have guard issues when turning as the wheel will move in a bigger arc.

Have 33s and 15x10 -44rims on my 106 double cab, just have extended shackles. Has a bit of rub at full flex when turning

Yep, unbolt the front axle from springs. Re drill the spring pad locating hole rearward about 25 mm. That will push your axle forward about 25 mm. From memory you will also need to re drill the bump stops.

The only problem with all this is that the drag link (and torque rod) should also get 25 mm shorter. But of course cutting and welding is illegal and dangerous. You can kind fudge it by rotating the steering wheel and playing with steering stops. This means you will likely end up with less lock one way. The proper fix would be go cross over steering or buy an adjustable drag link (and torque rod) from the likes of superior engineering. If you ignore the proper fix you can achieve a bit of crucial firewall clearance for essentially $0.

Also the cut and weld at the fire wall for "rust repairs" is a freeish crucial clearance gain if you have the tools and skills.
