mud tyre direction

what way do tyres perform best... non directional.. outer lugs facing forward or backward

To be honest, I don't think it makes a difference. The beauty of non direction tires is that they give you the same amount of grip in each direction. Its one of the reasons why I run them instead of a directional

I run 33x12.5x15 for size as for me on the Safari they work well without robbing power. As for the tyre itself at the moment I am running Goodride Mud Legends as they were on a trade special and before that mainly GT Radial Severo Muds, tried Hankook RT03's fantastic on the road, on rock, not bad in mud but worse than a highway tyre on anything with grass.

I like a non directional tyre as they give me good traction in both directions (as I operate solo a lot being able to go back is just as important to me as going forward), I do a lot of open road miles so I like to be able to fully rotate my tyres without having to take them of the rims.

My rule for buying tyres and some will disagree, is that for me I buy the cheapest decent looking radial non directional tyre as every now and then more often than I want to admit I kill one usually from a stake or sharp piece of rock taking out a side wall.
