Weekend Achievements - Big Packy

Postby MNC » Mon Nov 07, 2011 8:30 pm

Went on a boys weekend fishing trip last weekend.

Took on a big packy in about 30ft of water - sucker charged me and then stabbed me in the hand  (literary bleeding and bruised)Bit of a rumble fight to get him off my dive gear, then off my catch bag, then into my catch bag, then stop him from punching through the catch bag

But I had the last laugh when me and the family ate him last night

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Ha, I was only halfway through my tank but he was punching so many holes through my catch bag I thought he would eventually make it out

Think there was 107 of us up there and I was imagining telling everyone about how this big aggressive packy owned me and then got away  But the little ginga came though in the end

No I haven't, I'm not sure how you would go about figuring out how old he was?

Have found out the following:

"The packhorse, the world’s largest rock lobster, can be as large as 60 cm and 15 kg." Mine was only 5kgs...

"Legal size is attained in 5-10 years, depending on the sex of the lobster, area, and growth rates. Rock lobster may live for over 30 years."
