Gallery, Uploading photos and albums HOWTO

Postby mike » Sat Aug 29, 2009 12:07 pm

Hi all,

Here are some screen shots and instructions for uploading your photos into your galleries.

Applies to site supporter memberships only. For those that had galleries years ago but do not have a supporters membership you can still access them but are unable to upload photos as such or create further galleries.

first step:

1) From the home page your menu on the right will contain an item called "add something" and in there is photo and gallery.
2) Click add gallery, fill out the title and hit submit. If you want you can add a parent gallery. (The list will be limited to only yours soon). Alternatively if you head to the galleries page, search on your username, click into a gallery then there is a "add sub gallery" link on the bottom right. (see below for image).
3) once you are in a gallery (either saved new or entered from your own galleries page click the add photo button.
Image

4) once clicked you will be taken to the upload photos screen. This contains an icon which your browser needs the flash plugin to use. If you cant see this icon then head here and install the flash plugin. http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
The icon is shown below.
Image

5) once you have click this icon. it opens up a file browser. browse to your photos and either drag the mouse to select multiple images or hold down ctrl and click (to select one at a time) or shift click (to select rows or multiple). select done or ok.

Image

6) once you have clicked done, the images will be queued for upload. now click the save button down the bottom of the page and the images will start to upload. The next two images show the save button and the images uploading.

Image

Image

7) Once they have finished, a "next button" will appear. This takes you to the screen where you can change the titles (currently set to the filename of the image) and enter a description for the photo. This description will be used later on the images, so make sure you add some if appropriate. click done when you have finished. These images show the next button and the descriptions and title fields to fill out.

Image

Image

8) once you have selected done you will be taken to a page which shows all of your galleries. This page will be soon shown in your profile page. If you gallery doesnt appear to have any photos just yet, this is most likely due to caching of the web page. just check back in a little while and they should appear.

Thats it!

I struggled with this as well - ended up opening my gallery, clicking on the picture, clicking on 'show image details' down the bottom and then right clicking on the picture ~> 'copy image location'

Make sure you enlarge the thumbnail and then copy the link then use the Img button thing. That is how I did mine and it worked ok.

actually the easiest way is just to right click on the thumbnail and select "copy link location" and paste that between the [ img ] tags

Ive noticed that when you put pics into an album....they appear in reverse order.
So if you do an album showing a trip...you have to load the pics from end of trip before the beginning so they appear in the album from start to finish.
I hope you understand what i mean....if not im sure ill find out

Hi Phil,

It should be on the right hand side of the page, look for "add something" first one should be gallery, then photo. Click that and you should be ok from there.....

Cheers

this may upset you, but I still struggle with the whole photo uploading/posting from ORE galleries etc etc

so I continue to use photobucket

but this morning after a wee while copying and pasting from photobucket to a thread it tells me it was not possible to determine the dimensions of the image on every photo

they are less than 640x480 so should go onto site easy as, like has worked in the past.

has the latest upgrades changed things or is it my fault again coz I am tech illiterate  :? :?:

I've got the same problem. I've linked in photos from flickr and picasa before, but can't do it today. Something about can't determine image size.

I don't know if its still only a site supporter option but I just use another site to do it. If your using an external host ie photobucket you can set it to auto resize pictures as you upload em so you never have to worry.
