Bloody private message notification

Postby Heath » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:39 pm

Any chance the message notifications can be turned off?

Have just had a long technical reply to a question I typed out killed because when I hit post I had a pop up message appear telling me I had mail waiting in my inbox, so I lost the lot. Perhaps we could go back to the old system where the indicator at the top of the page was all we had or just make it a pop up only on the forum index page (or something, just not this current system).

Cant be bothered retyping the whole thing again so wont bother. How many other responses have been lost in this way, never to be retyped? This isnt the first time for me, but it was probably the longest and most technical answer I've given to a valid question. And no I'm not going to type up my responces in word then cut and paste them here. I dont in other forums so why should I here.

No disrespect intended to the moderators or the boss man but this time it really pissed me off.

Meh. Doesn't happen to me.

I have no friends to pm me.

If I did, and it occured, I'd just hit the back a step button as the system I'm using will go back to the prior page. Quite handy the old opera.

I now copy my PM's "Ctrl C" before I submit them.

I hit the go back button too but my typing was gone. Might start copying to clipboard before hitting post too.

Yep x2, "Ctrl A" + "Ctrl C" for all posts and PMs
