Spot of real driving skill here....

Reminds me of a chap who raced a white and blue Escort at the Wellington street race many years ago, similar style, spent most of the lap on three wheels, cant for the life of me remember his name...

Damn it! Do I have to be an old timer to appreciate that? Guess I'm old then cause that is awesome!

Wrxico build is pretty awesome to. Though I'm not sure how I feel about a 4wd Escourt.

I hear what you're saying, whilst hes done a great job, and its an awesome vehicle, there's something just not kosher about a Subaru powered and 4wd'd Escort....

haha that's truly how car should be driven.. grew up with those type of cars and man you HAD to drive them or you just fell off the road doing skids etc.. not like the youngens nowadays.. with 500hp cars and can't drive to save themselves.. Reckon they all should be taught to drive like that then the deaths on our roads would be less.. :) It's saved my bacon a few times

There's an awesomely modified/built Model A rocking about with a BDA in it too. Should be a few clips on jewtube if you haven't seen it already.

They hide the racing harnesses behind a throw cushion in the back seat

20 years or so ago there was a guy in Ashburton who raced a rotary powered escort.
He was fast and from memory a bit mad when behind the wheel :D

Grasshopper! No idea on what his real name was..... Was a regular at Levels. he rallied, rolled, bowled, arseholed, raced and probably shagged that thing!

I suspect that first vid is one of the modern "BDA"s by these guys: http://www.millingtonengines.co.uk/
Is also rather a few running sequential boxes as well!

Simon McKinley has owned the Escort since he was 13 lol, spent 20 years or so building it up with his dad on a shoestring budget, that said, it has a 2.4l Connaught Competition Engines Warrior in it, 316bhp fuel injected, 0-100k in the low 3 secs 8)
