Its the way our society has taught you to spell these days.

The following is a brief example of some of the spelling I've seen on here and other sites, in particular 'retardme'

A lot of folks seem to be "wreaking" cars instead of wrecking them.....................

wreak

1.to inflict or execute (punishment, vengeance, etc.): They wreaked havoc on the enemy.
2.to carry out the promptings of (one's rage, ill humor, will, desire, etc.), as on a victim or object: He wreaked his anger on the office staff.

Theres also a few people that have "disk breaks" on thier vehicle...........

disk

Computers. any of several types of media consisting of thin, round plates of plastic or metal, used for external storage: magnetic disk; floppy disk; optical disk.

break

1.to smash, split, or divide into parts violently; reduce to pieces or fragments: He broke a vase.
2.to infringe, ignore, or act contrary to (a law, rule, promise, etc.): She broke her promise.
3.to dissolve or annul (often fol. by off): to break off friendly relations with another country.
4.to fracture a bone of (some part of the body): He broke his leg.
5.to lacerate; wound: to break the skin.

these are 2 of the most common mistakes I see all the time and theres plenty more to go with that.
I'm fairly confident that sometimes nobody can understand what is being said in a post, especially if you use txt language or a derivative of that.

If you are young and txt language was acceptable at your school, the this is bloody well wrong and should attempt to re-educate yourself to assist with making the future generation brighter etc etc etc

righto rant over, I've wreaked enough havoc as it is

its or "it's" and
theres or there's or maybe there is

I could be a real pedant and point out that it is none of the foregoing suggestions. The use of 'there is' should be for the singular subject but as Skid is talking of a plural subject (a few people) the correct term is 'there are'.

Luckily I'm not a pedant, however, so I'll let it pass without comment.

For Skid:

The quote below should amuse and entertain, but i guess you all got a copy or nineteen? makes our ignorant and undereducated look quite clever, doesn't it?

Note the spelling is ok, its just the grammar that appears to be bad.

Hello not the man familiar to me! I only wished to write to you the letter and to tell as in general my letter got to you! First I would like to speak a little about myself my name is Oksana to me 31 years. I live in Russia. All the others my data and a photo in the appendix to the letter data. I was in agency of acquaintance and to me advised yours e-mail the address. I only wanted that you have spent about 10 minutes both looked my a photo and my data and received from you the answer you would like to have acquaintance to me or you only would not like this? Tell to me I so only the nobility it much would like. Also I shall wait much your answer. Can you send me you photo and story life on my personal e-mail: romanticoxe30@gmail.com P. S. In this letter I am sending you my photo so that you could see my appearance.

I am reminded forcibly of the old saying,
"you must not with a preposition end a sentence with"

Does anyone know what the text speak is for: Sad, self indulgent children with an over inflated sense of self worth who can’t decide whether they are Goth, Emo or an androgynous mixture of whatever is in this afternoon?

It’s not a ‘language’; it’s just how dumb people communicate!

True, not all. It just seems that way, those teenagers that CAN read and write are fairly thin on the ground.

Everyone in the world over the age of 12 knows all about being a teenager; the rebellion, the angst, the desire to be exactly as different as everybody else your age.

It’s so ironic that the only people on the planet who don’t understand this fact are the ones who happen to be teenagers right now…

Here was me thinking this was a forum not a writers convention.
Seriously the grammar police should really go read a novel if they are are for the perfect English. People like myself who wish to discuss 4x4 and tech will stay here.

This kind of sums it up.

Okay how about someone illustrate the difference between bought and brought. This one gets me going on a bad day, when people come on a forum to show off their recent purchase.

one's a purchase (bought from a shop), the other is an item, idea, ideal, etc etc that you bring to a situation or event/place.... Brought - past tense of Bring. Just remember the "Br".
