Latest victim of Muriwai

Postby luckyme » Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:18 pm

mwai wreck (2).jpg
Had a shorty after work to Muriwai and came across the rolled Prado. She is 2.9Ks north from Rimmers road entrance, so be aware... not something you wanna run over.

Less than 100m from the spot there is a biggish opening, the wreck would be way safer up there, out of traffic's way above the high tide mark. From my experience it's going to take months for the council to remove it. Couple of bigger trucks could move/winch/tow it up there - count me in.

I'd say it was just an accident, not a crash it, burn it, leave it. Lets move her to a safer spot, and keep our beach safe, clean and open for a long time, +stop the blame game before it starts.(that ORE sticker not the best look for us fellas)

I am open for most afternoons, tide is good for the next few days :)

If you are willing to help please let me know, need a couple of trucks to move her safely.

Cheers,

Probably...

I won't win the Oscar here, but I'd hope the last decade thought me some basics on that stretch of our beautiful coastline.

Hope no one got injured, keep it open ;)

It's a great way to clean up the beach, but I would try to check with the police or see who owned/owns it as it may still be subject to an Insurance claim... if you move it that may cause more problems than it is worth for the person that belongs to now.

x2. That sticker has SFA to do with this site, just another Jap import that came into the country with it.

I reckon they wouldn't have got stuck on the beach if only they had brought axles and wheels with them that day...
Remember, always, always, take your axles with you when going offroad. This is a lesson for all of us.

Chuckle, Prado/hilux axles are getting hard to find thus expensive. I'm surprised to see only the axles gone.

One way to reduce your un-sprung weight though......

But then, with no front axle, there's nothing to keep your engine from falling out onto the sand, which might be the problem here!

Contray to popular belief of those not too good in the thinking department but the engine is actually held in the chassis by engine mounts and can not fall out even without the axles or diff housings as suggested.
