The Rosehill College Fundraising Safari is on Sunday 2nd November 2014
This is a unique opportunity to visit the south coast of the Manukau Harbor, an area that is normally off limits to the public while enjoying your 4WD vehicle in its natural environment. The event is a fund raising event to raise funds to help send a group of Rosehill College students on a World Challenge expedition to Vietnam in December 2014.

The Safari will start near Karaka, 30Km south of the center of Auckland and will follow a route through several farms, along the beach, paddocks, bush, mud, some tracks specially built for this event. Parts of the route are below the high tide mark on a hard surface. Historical information and activities for the kids will be provided on route. The route will be suitable for all high clearance 4WD vehicles with optional more challenging sections for more capable vehicles and drivers.

Numbers are limited. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Further information including exact starting point and time will be supplied when your entry is received.

Costs
$ 85.00. Per vehicle (Including morning tea)
Entrants who are not members of a New Zealand Four Wheel Drive Association (NZFWDA) affiliated club will be required to become a day member of Manukau 4 Wheel Drive Club and pay the day member fee of $5.00 in addition to the safari fee.

We have encountered an unforeseen problem with access to a critical piece of land that we need to access as part of this safari. We have received excellent support from most local land owners and we were confident we would be able to provide a excellent experience for those taking part in the safari. Unfortunately in the last few days a highly unforeseen issue has arisen which has the potential to create considerable problems for several land owners who were supporting our event. We were not in a position to be able to expect a resolution to this issue prior to the event starting.
For this reason we have had to cancel the event in its current form. We are urgently arranging a replacement event based in the South Auckland area but at this time we are not able to confirm a venue. We will be supplying updates as soon as we possibly can.
To those that have already sent an entry form and payment,
If you have paid by cheque, you cheque will not be banked until we have reconfirmed our plans.
If you have paid by direct credit and wish to be refunded, please send me you account number and you will be refunded immediately.
I wholeheartedly apologise for this hiccup which we are frantically working to resolve
Please feel free to call me on 09 2983194 or email me if you would like any further information.

Oh that sucks. We were just talking about it today, and how nice it will be to have something closer to home to attend.

A couple of Photos of the Rosehill Safari route to wet you appetite. PLease note, The route is NOT suitable for vehicles on road tires or without low range. A minimum of good AT tires are required and if wet there may be a different route for those not on MUD tires.

Also the morning tea spot will include a (weather permitting) view of Sky Tower, Rangototo, Huntly Power Station, Mt perongia and Mt Egmount/ Taranaki all from the same spot.

This looks like a great day out.

I wish everyone a safe, fun and exciting day in four wheel drive low range.

It is unfortunately taking place a month before I get back to NZ or I would love to take part.

You won't be disappointed. Drove the route again yesterday and found even more interesting spots including a couple of white knuckle tracks.

keep it to yourself mate coz they probably don't want everyone getting the details how to enter but go to the first post at the top of the page and follow the instructions particularly the bit about the contact details and email address to register or enquire for more information :D

Hi Tony,

Will the entrants be receiving some more detailed route info closer to the event date? I need to work out if I can bring my LPG-only Cruiser but distance from a servo with LPG will be good to know.

Cheers

Yes more info will be sent out next week by email. As far as i can see, the nearest LPG filling station is in Pukekohe. You would a range of around 120Km from Pukekohe back to Pukekohe.

We are getting close to our maximum number and will not be taking any more entries after Monday 26th October. If you are still intending to come but haven't sent in an entry form, you have less than a week.
