Done

Ugly starter motor problem reared its head again last night. Click, click ,click, then it desides its gonna work.

Should be ok for the weekend, but some problem solving required in the future!!! Voltgage reads below 24V when ignition is on when cold. Possibly batteries not holding their charge.
Could be just the solenoid in the starter, probably full of mud and crap.
Only a problem when cold and the voltage drops with the glow plugs and manifold heater going.
Spose it does point to the batteries.

I got my starter motor checked a while ago... at a cost of $100 odd bucks,,, just to find out that it was the battery. when starting with a multi-meter on it shouldn't drop below 9v which it was.,.... gah....

Yeah, the batteries got one hell of a hiding when i drove 300+k's home from a trip with no alternator what so ever.
I don't think they ever fully recovered from that, i must have over drained them.

Starter motors probably full of mud and silt and water any way, so that may as well come off first as it doesn't cost anything to check that.

well it must have got more shit in the rims .... lesson; dont go out driving with tubeless tires??? and arn't you pleased that the leak stopped? or slowed down as you would have run out of spares. ( this my defence and I'm sticking to it ) Say Hello to Nicola ( Bernies daughter) for us. ( small world) Will pick up tire gauge sometime during week. Thanks really enjoyed the company and the rum good day and hurry up gettin that toy working then we can go out into some hard yakka.
cheers DJ

sounds like you boys had a ball :!: :!:
as for the cop's, mate come down south, there ain't no cops that can be bothered pulling up 4x4's, had mine on the road 18 months, never been pulled up, ain't seen a checkpoint in all that time and done heaps of trips all over the south island :!:
don't know why I bothered doing cert, reg, wof, ect
I'd be better off by way more than $400, but never know whats round the bend :?
