Shiny Palmy Trip 26/27 May

Postby Jerry » Wed Mar 14, 2012 10:27 pm

Anyone keen on this?

Plan is shiny trip North Range Rd & Takapari Rd with optional Ashhurst River play (is this still allowed?) Overnight at Ashhurst Domain Campsite..., can look at a shiny drive up to the whatsits name dam on the way back.

Any thoughts/Suggestions welcome

Edit : will rerun this when its a bit warmer

was told north range road is just a manicured gravel road now. what's it like compared to takapari (which is also super easy)

north range can be done in 2wd now, still not a bad one to do for shineys tho, gets you right under the windmills, still ok to play at Ashhurst River Area as long as you stay above the Ashhurst Bridge and below the Saddle Road Bridge.A good way to go is in at Saddle Road Bridge and head Down Stream to Ashhurst Bridge and come out just down from the Domain Entrance on Napier Road

cheers

Was making it a shiny grade 1 trip .... good for newer members and also have a beer or 3 with the palmy crowd ....

Taz01 was trying out his MK submarine in the river last time we were there so there is an optional harder trip ....(don't have any pics of him floating  ) easy enough to organise a harder trip next one after this

Also i've never done both of these tracks so would be good to cross them off ......

found some pics from 08/09

there are no "tracks" made at ashhurst, we will just "peg" some out from all the tracks that are there for a bit of fun :)
