takahui saddle

Has anyone got any info on accessability, condition of takahui saddle track up north?
Heard a little about it and keen to give it a crack

I did it a couple of years ago, was pretty much a 2WD track. May have changed since then?

Kaitaia 4x4 Club heading over the Takahue Saddle Sun May 20th if interested.

Meet @ Kaitaia town clock carpark 9am.

Will be doing some maintenance on the track also, fallen trees etc.

Im thinking of going through on the sat 19th, gutted i cant do sunday tho, was keen for a trip with the club. I came to a club meeting a while back end of last year, Im the guy with the green lwb bighorn on 33s from kerikeri

it's not a long track , but normally only done in one direction .
best to talk to the kaitaia club guys , they will know the current status.

the track will go all the way threw if you ring the land owner of the pine forest which in recent years has been closed and was a no exit road you can get a key for the gate. i don't know the number to contact for the key though the kaitaia club will have all this info. the last time i went up there i had a standard samurai with simex tires and found a few places that were challenging. but think the best bet is to talk to the kaitaia club members as they know more about the tracks conditions.
