I doubt a local is going to be walking out mid chasm  More like greenies being the issue I reckon and the usual muppetts stuffing it up for the rest of course. I'm sure our $ will be welcome, always has been in the past.

Unfortunitly Im in the same boat I wont make it either due to moving house among other things, I sure as hell would be rather wheeling with some good buggers than having to move.
Hope you all have an awesome trip and look forward to the storys and pics :D

Hahaha. The gold and coal are both looking pretty unstable at the moment so we'd better welcome all you 4WD boys with open arms. Otherwise we might just have to close Reefton! Commodities go up and down but wheeling is a constant :D

Looking forward to meeting you guys when you get here. A bit of a pity that the weather forecast is currently looking abysmal, but no doubt there are those among you who will enjoy negotiating bottomless mud-holes whilst enduring torrential downpours (and maybe snow).

Sorry Smurf, with the forecast shyte weather and Lisa in a wheelchair I don't think overnighting at Thompson's Flat is going to be an option, but we'll still be in for a day-trip in and out.

Rain, bahhhhh. As Rude says, it always rains in NZ. You know my motto, Rain hail, sleet or snow...we go! Should make it interesting at least and the winches will get a work out I suppose.

Got permissions for the mine trip and over into the Waitahu, so I'll take that on either Sat or Sun (gotta be the weekend). If the weather's as wet as it's supposed to be the river will be pretty dodgy to cross so exiting via the Montogomery's track will be a no-go except for deep/swift-water capable trucks & brave souls.

Hey Ineil - I'd be keen to do mine trip Sat. Not sure how your rivers are looking at the moment, assuming they're pretty normal we should be able to get through before they get up too much. I'd say they'll be cranking by Sunday. My 2C. Catch you somewhere Fri nite or Sat morn. Cheers, Steve (blue LWB prado, not quite shiny)

Hahaha, reminds me of one of these past trips. We went into Montgomery hut and got stuck for three days. Too pissed to drive out when it started raining, only left because we ran out of piss. Got bored and made man traps to catch each other out at night when going for a piss. Another legend trip that one.
See ya's tomorrow nite.

Mine Trip
Okay then, we'll do the mine trip on Saturday. The weather is looking to be slightly better on Sat than on Sun anyway. No limit on numbers so anyone who wants can tag along.
