Had a quick look to see if here where any recent vids of the track.

Found a crack up clip of these muppets that made it to the hut:

Even using a ARB 20m winch extention tied up in a knot as a snatch strap. Genius!!!!

Could be keen to come along seeing as its a Saturday, been on the to do list for a while.

Would you guys crash the night in there and come out Sunday??

Hey I might be keen if you guys don't mind a newbie tagging along (and the wife hasn't got me booked for anything). I took a drive up Odlins Road as far as Maymorn Junction on Sunday but didn't want to start heading down towards Waiotauru on my lonesome. Does the track start getting more challenging from Maymorn down?

from memory after the tank traps its got a few narrow spots, and a steep creek to climb out of on the way home, but i dont think its much harder. with a few trucks/spotters around, you should be fine

Bugger...

Just looked at the CCVC calender and they've got a training day on the same day. I need to tick that off my list and I think they only do it every other month so that's me out.

Fair call on doing the training day - they don't come up all that often. I have changed the date to the 21st. Hopefully this date still works with everyone.

Awesome find - did not see a great deal of seat belt use in there either!
I am picking that the lack of the Zuk featuring in the video it did not need assistance..

Pity I no longer live in Wellington region otherwise I would be keen as... And my snorkel might not handle Cook Strait so well!

The 21st sounds pretty good. I still have to book on the training day, haven't had any luck getting hold of the guy yet. Looks like everyone's going to be there.

I'm keen for the 21st but I've got CCVC stuff both days this weekend and I was away last weekend so I may have to spend that weekend doing the family thing...
Have people decided if it's a day trip or an stay-over?

Just a day trip. Meet up at the top carpark area (directly opposite the start of the track) at 10am on Saturday the 21st.

I went up as far as Maymorn Junction a month ago and it was fine in terms of navigability but there was a bit of overhanging growth in places. Having said that though it was in the dry then and we've had a decent wet since then...
I didn't want to head down to the hut without a backup vehicle to haul my sorry ass outa trouble, so I couldn't say what it's like from the top down to Waiotauru.
I'd definitely be taking my chainsaw and a few sandbags with me if I was going - which is looking decidedly iffy with 'er-indoors.
