Westport Winter 2014

Postby hosehustler » Sat Mar 15, 2014 8:10 pm

After the success of last years trip and another winter looming it's time for a mission......Westport is the go this year :P
looking at late july/early August before the Nor-westers arrive, chuck your name up with any preferred dates and we'll concrete a date within the next couple of weeks.
Grade 4- 5+ weather dependant, isn't the terrain for all in the winter

Dead keen to go and help out along the way... Club will be in there early June so will scope out any new possible places. :)
Late July would be great.

Without a doubt, looking at staying at Westport in the camping and cabins, great facilities, cabins or campsites and no fuel between Westport and Karamea so i figure it to be best spot, ive stayed there plenty of times, it's a beautiful spot and great BBQ area

I would be keen to come, just not sure my truck would be upto the task, could we have a bit of a run down on maybe minimum truck requirements?

Grade 4-5+
i'd expect a well set up vehicle, plenty of bar work, snorkel, 33inch(minimum) mudgrips, preferably a winch, all the hand tools, and well seasoned steerer who won't mind some possible panel damage.

hope that helps

I'm keen if I can get time off. The new "RAT" should have been tested in a couple of winch challenges by then...
