Crossing upper Rangitata above Mesopotamia to erewhon?

Postby billfish » Tue Apr 21, 2015 11:09 pm

Hi there guys. I'm planning a SI sojourn in Jan 2016. Anybody got the good oil on crossing the upper Rangitata from Mesopotamia to Erewhon Station? Thinking late Jan 2016. Is it doable, any recommendations? Or is it a bust. I know its one of the trickier rivers.

Cheers, Bill

Best to shoot into havelock river cross that then up and over ridge into clyde then cross that into erewhon.

If the rivers above 115cubes on ecan sit then i wouldnt look at it.. If its merky dont look at it.. Many trucks have seen there last days in there

I know the place like back of hand have worked on erewhon and hunt the area regulary

Il dig out the gps position to get into erewhon for you

Dont forget to give Erewhon a call for access permission. Messi side is public access to the riverbed. Havelock is usually braided out and easy. Clyde often runs in one channel deeper and quite quick, take time to wander up or down river to find a good crossing spot.
