Tirfor is a good score
I have 9m strap and 10m nylon rope. I can bring upto another 20m if necessary but I dont think so as padero is bringing the same as well.
Just finishing up putting tow hook mounts on the back of the surf. Not so easy with surfs as the chasis is right up under the bumper and back aways. Ended up modifying the towbar with extra supports and removable tounge(acted as an anchor!).
Might add some highlift jack mount points if I get the time.
Depending on who is coming with me will depend where I stay at the moment. Back of the truck is as comfy as any bed in a tent or wherever
Will transfer the trip money over tonight as well DB.

I'm making a 5m and a 30m on monday with a new type of rope I want to test, also will be picking up the tirfor and wire, and maybe a couple of snatch blocks.
Do you have any 6.5T shackles lying around to bring? with the tirfor we will need 2 minumum and I only have one
My biggest issue will be getting stuck on rocks I suspect.
I'm planning on driving over on the 13th and staying the night. I have a couple of friends coming along and I'm not sure whether I'm meeting them in Westport or Christchurh. If I meet them in CHC I'll call you as would be good to head up in convoy. You planning on leaving on the 13th?
Cheers,
Bill

Hey guys.
Hows this for a string of bad luck:
My clutch has died, along with the slave cylinder, and my PC at home has a virus and needs reformatting.
So the PC is geting thrown out (been waiting for a reason to), and i have been assured the Shorty will be out of hospital by 5pm on the 13th. They want it for three days!!!!!
So what that means for you guys is that i won't have any access to the net at home for a while, and i go off shift on Monday. That means we have three days to get stuff sorted out.
As far as the trip its self is concerned, the routes are all sorted.
I don't really have much of a garden, but if we got desperate i reckon we could squeeze a small tent in. I do have a spare room, which Padero has got, and there is a fold out couch in the lounge, and also a bit of floor space if it came to that. Its only a small two bedroom house.
Sounds like you guys are going all out with the recovery gear, and why not. I have a 15,000 pound PTO winch on the Shorty.
I think the best i can do under the circumstances is to say that we meet at:
Its in a PM, and my Phone numbers:!:
You are all welcome on 13th, and when i have finished inspecting the high quality of workmanship on my clutch job, and throwing my gear in the back, we could head out for a quiet beer.
Any other probs, ring me!!!
My numbers in a PM to ya

who told you that wjw???
If you can get a long wheel base high roof safari through these with no damage, then one of those skinny toyota or mitsubishi things will do it.
Like Albundy said for his trip to Otago, i take no responsibility for peoples lack of driving skill!!!!
Just so long as your here before mid night Padero
Its dead on four hours in the Safari to here.

Nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst
Was talking to the farmer at the end of the Mackly river track last night and he has agreed to charge us only $10 to open the gate, not $10 per vehicle. More Beer money for everyone

Ready to go at 9:00am??
You guys can have the fold out couch in the lounge, that way wjw can sleep peacefully after his 9 hour mission up here!!!!

Same time as you
ph number is 03 981 0911
Still trying to get my truck ready. Number plate is held on by tie wire, high lift jack mounts are sitting on the back of the old landrover waiting to be painted! Front left tyre has a slow leak! Back right tow point has only holes as there are no tow hooks in the country according to the supplier! GF still hasn't decided if she is going yet
