what was i thinking

Postby yeti » Thu Jan 03, 2013 2:57 pm

Out yesterday testing locker ,rock was giving the mutt a bit of a shake down.....long story short jeep lost gears going forward ,still had reverse so did that back to where westie was gonna grab trailer...all sweet away he rumbles ' only to tell me over cab that the mutt had died.....sweet as on the phone ring me mate be 20 minutes away to pick up westie...cool bit of time to kill and this is all me here's slide under jeep between front wheels and back....look at linkages and with out thinking yelled out to the young fella jump in Jeep foot on brake give the shifter a wiggle.... knew shit was going to hit fan when it hit neutral with a set of legs still standing there.....sump going over wasn't
bad but the diff kinda farked things for a bit...got one leg outta the way other got kissed by one tah.... cracked ribs, bruising on the old ticker, heaps of soft tissue
 damage, best part of 20 hours up hospital.... fair to say I'm kinda tender and rather lucky to get away with what I got..... so yeah that's one of the most stupid
things I've done and still don't know what I was thinking.....
So that's that ....name change to Kermit number one Muppet

This could have been waaaayyyyy worse than it was, it could have been me under there

Major thing here is that we all forget that when we have green as guys with us who know shit all and we expect them do something and automatically that they will use some brain and think, that is not always the way it goes down. The young fella who was with Wayne is 18 but never heard Wayne say to put brake on, he has never been in a 4wd before either so had no idea that there was another neutral on the transfercase. He is now well aware that you open you EARS when giving someone a hand. This story has so many "what if's" that you could analyse it for weeks and still not be sure. Pleased you are okayish Yeti and that you did go and get checked out, take it easy for a bit dude.

PS I don't want to talk about what happened to the mongrel cos it farks me off   and to top it off I had to ride in a jeep as well

And ya looked good in it......no way was the young fella at fault.... think he freaked out more when I slowly stood up and kinda laughed about it.....he's a good kid and stopped a couple of cars on bridge....he did well and pass on my thanks to him.....um we won't talk about the Nissan shiny to the rescue.. :)

Wish you a speedy recovery. Hope the Jeep is doing well as well. :D

PS: Should have bought a lotto ticket on the way back, it definitely was a lucky escape from a certain disaster.
