Show us your Lada! (Or Lada's...)
Well,
WE FINALLY HAVE A LADA SECTION!!
So, post up pics and details of your Lada, Or Lada's, if you are that way inclined
Here are mine:
1990 Lada Niva, reasonably standard, really tidy condition (except for crappy black re-paint). Not going entirely yet, but soon to be road legal.
And my 1989 Lada 'Fiva'. Fiat Twin-cam two litre engine conversion, documented on internet by 'Cloggy' (Pierre Seevens). http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/cloggy/page1.html
Also currently not road legal, but is going, and is getting towards it's WoF.
Also, you can introduce yourself.
My name is Louis Prouting, an 18y.o. from Auckland (also Kaiwaka). I'm just starting at AUT this year, doing Communications.
And that's me.
Your turn!

You have to upload them to photobucket, resize them to 640x480 and copy and paste the IMG code into here.
But nice, tidy looking Niva

Re: Show us your Lada! (Or Lada's...)
Greetings good to finally see an nz site.My name is peter,I have owned a 96 1.7 for the past 5 1/2 years.I have put the reg on hold because I live in the bop and the lada is in taranaki.Once I sell my house I will bring it up and start the alterations that I have planned. These include taking the roof off, building a type of spaceframe to compensate for the lost strength by taking the roof off,Changing it back to left hand drive so that I can get my shoeboxes in[as you know the left footwell is wider than the right],lowering the diff ratios and the transfer box ratio[I need to slow the old girl down].I have already given it a 2'' lift and put some 30x9.5x15 under her.I will post some photos once I start.Take it easy out there, peter

Here's mine, Called 'Miniskip':
A few years back in first competition:
A coule of years ago:
Don't have any decent photo's of it's current build state...
Niva with:
Toyota 2c (2.0 diesel),
lada 4speed box (changed form 5speed),
Steel front diff,
Power Steering,
Corolla seats,
1/2 cage,
Welded rear diff,
Small guard trim,
Wide offset 15" rims,
30x9.5 R15's,
Rear mounted radiator,
Skid plates underneath,
Fully stripped for light weight,
PRS etc,
Beer can holder's- inside truck and under bonnet!
Futre mod's:
Install 5.1 diff's (sitting under my bench )
Install front Air locker (also sitting under my bench )
Finish ute conversion,
Finish re-shaping the guards for bigger ruber,
Then Get some bigger tyre's under it!
much further down the track- upgrade to a 3C-t (2.2 turbo diesel)
At the moment, it's parked up, Mod's on hold till I finish current round of mod's on the other truck, then I'll get back into working on the lada...

http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/images ... xter_3.jpg
http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/images ... va2006.jpg
It's got a 2" Hoodoo Ring lift, and usually runs a Weber. It's currently sitting unloved outside my house after a drama filled engine and tranny swap that hasn't bee fully sorted yet. More about it here: http://www.ladaniva.co.uk/baxter/baxtersniva.htm

Had a lada around 12 years ago now, that had factory lockers front and rear, wasnt very mechanically minded at the time so not sure how they worked but they did and dam effect.
Re: Show us your Lada! (Or Lada's...)
I'd love to get details of these factory locker equipped Nivas. As far as I know, they've never been fitted with lockers in the axles as standard, only the usual transfer box lock.
Hope I'm wrong!
