This is the track we are taking him friday nite -

The uphill mud still to go

The view back down and way behind RED

I love GOD winches 600 meters of winching no breaks.

However we have decided to change the venue as I came out with no brakes the mud destroyed the pads and I drove 90k home with no brakes only using the gears.

FYI from the pic to the top roughly 150 meters or 3 winches took me another 40 minutes of slogging my way through the mud and then 5 more mins or less I was at the waterfall 400 meters away.

A simple trip pickup 4 customers from Kuala Lumpur Hotel and a nice drive to Lata Berembun (Berembun waterfall) 2.5 hours away from Kuala Lumpur. I was told be wary as there was the usual NEW YEARS EVE party up there and they ran a COMP on day 2 (6 trucks). One of the participants told me we winched downhill it's muddy was all he said and laughed.

I took my god winched 13B-T powered LC II and the 35" MAXXIS Mudd terrain tires since ive stopped using SIMEX XT's. Last 3 trips here I have not winched RED at all only the open DIFFED blue handbag needs to winch on this track.

The track is 10k bottom to top (uphill all the way)

The first sign of trouble was when the usual rough Y junction turnoff and it as was smooth after that I could see the RUTS damn some serious traffic ( I find out later 40+ 4x4's and 30-50 motorbikes and 6 comp trucks) on it. Then the bamboo grove climb it was GONE replaced by DEEP ruts deep into a trench. The 35" sneakers make it 1/2 ay and then I bottom out. The GOD winch comes out only after I climb out the window I cannot open the door. TRees none one already pulled out and a STEEL anchor stake further up hello it's obviously got really bad. I winch out of the first obstacle then the second the strap pulls of the Steel stake and I have to select a tree much further up.

RED finishes the rest of the 100 meter climb under its own power.

The rest of the climb is uneventful the river crossing is easy and low The mudhole before is just deep. The BIG rock climbs out of the river reasy for the MAXXIS MT tires.

Then the big shock the last 600 meters the first 80 meters its just torn up This is where the comp boys turned around on the SS. Yes they used the track as one SS 600 meters down and back up :( .

I bottom out. Out with the winch and pull a tree over - damn out with the axe as its lying over the track.

Next tree and RED effortlessly pulls itself up and keeps winching. Round the corner I half expected it a war zone a SEA of CLAY I get barely 50 meters and bottom out. 500 meters left I look at my watch 11.00am already 1.5 hours gone 9.5k travelled. I step one step at a time through the MUD pulling a strap and 60 meters of 11mm STEEL cable , back into the truck winch 50-60 meters and do it all again - it's exhausting I repeat this over and over 12 times according to the customers. I'm due to meet the wife in the gym tonite 8pm haha I'm doing a gym workout junglegym style. One winch left I manage to get RED to drive 30 meters until it cannot climb over a tree root there is just no grip for the MAXXIS tires. Winch again. Wow we crest the rise waterfall is 300 meters away and 2 ore hours have passed by. Then I see the other SS's wow another war zone. I have consumed 1.5 liters of drink in the past 45 minutes the mud has just sapped me my arms ache from hauling the heavy steel cable and jerking it out when it pinches up. Jammed winch cable everything I have dealt with - however RED to me was simply awesome it just did what I expected effortlessly. People say give me AT's and a Winch and you can go anywhere - I say give me RED and it's god winch and I can take it anywhere. That modified 13B-T engine just provides so much effortless torque it barely raised a sweat the entire mud trail.

Its 1.35pm (wow normally its 1 hour run its taken 4 physical hours I feel it) and I pull out the lunch stuff. I take off my shirt its filthy and no spare have a wash and prepare lunch. The girls tell me to sit down and relax they will cook lunch. We get out the cold drinks from the fridge and celebrate Their first jungle trip in a 4x4 they loving it. Then they try and guess my age.

Finally its 4.00pm lunch is over the cold GRAPES eaten and the hot pasta lunch and the cold drinks consumed the roar of the waterfall has massaged our ears and the howl of the monkeys and birds in the background is going to become a memory and the truck is quickly packed. Time for home. 1 hour and we have slid our way down to the bottom winching once. We cleaned out RED's wheels they were completely covered in thick MUD.

I realise the brakes are GONE coming down.

In Bentong 20k away we find a truck wash and I pay $30rm to have it cleaned then continue the last 80k home no brakes only gears.

RED pulls over the 750 meter Genting Highlands climb at 100kph turbo singing hard.

Kuala Lumpur is 8.30pm after crawling our way through rush hour traffic and not using the brakes.

4 Sets of PADS and 2 rear DISCS needed to be replaced next morning.

More pics and video later when I get it from the customers.

The customers - they coming back another ladies trip this time 2-3 days.

Its just not suitable for this weekends friday night trip at all the venue has been changed to a more vehicle friendly trip as we do have to have one of the guys at the airport by 1.30pm saturday.

Such a great story! Who needs the gym when driving in conditions like that?!
I wonder if the customers would get a kick out of helping?

Right all set. KK is picking me up in his YJ Jeep at 8pm.

Had enough of work for today, too many people talking a load a crap. Even porn stars seem to work here, and they get a bloody parking space: WTF

Mr Stelie.jpg

Will be good to get out of the rat race.

Last time we did that trip to the waterfall there was no winching. Was a great trip. Now they have just stuffed a nice trip to a fantastic camping spot.

yes it happened I will leave it to fullthrottle to remove the grin from his face and memories of hanging onto the steering wheel of a real turbo'd engine for a couple of hours long enough to write the story.

Well finally back home. Flight to Singapore, Melbourne and then finally Wellytown.

I've completely forgotten what I went to Malaysia for in the first place, all I can think about is jungle trip #2.

So the story begins, KK and Paul were going to collect me from the hotel at 8pm on Friday, but I should've made a mental note... (8pm Malay time = 9:30pm) :D

They roll up in their X3 and we shoot off to Pauls place for a bevy while we wait for Dave to arrive. Knock, knock he's here, 10:30 and we're on our way, Tropy, Surf and YJ Jeep cruising the motorway.
Those new Maxxis tyres make a massive difference. I can now hear the stereo and have a conversation. XT's driving through your brain on the tarmac starts to get on your tits.
2 hours or so up the motorway and I've already sweated a litre (Dave fix the AC man).
Now we are starting to get a little more isolated with some back roads and small villages. Paul and KK just can't keep up as the tropy howls through the night.......Holy S*#t batman!! a massive water buffalo on the edge of the road. He just raises his head to say WTF :?: with his huge frame and massive horns. I thought our Murray Grey steers were big, he was 3 times the size and had parked himself outside the local police station...great speed deterrent.

We're then onto the offroad tracks around at around 00:30. The track is easy going except for a quick detour to take on a mud hole. We go in carefully and immediately bottom out and are stuck fast. GOD now makes his appearance and is reeled out in reverse at a fast walking pace. In no less than 1min the tropy is out and back on hard ground.
The Surf and YJ try a quicker pace and just stroll through the bog with their XT's. By now the tropy has also developed a clunk?? Will check that out in the morning.
We carry on through the jungle tracks and come across a snake shooting across the track, dodging the truck while trying to enjoy its nighttime frog feeding. Creeping quietly through a small village where the Orang Asli live, finally arriving at camp about 01:30am.
Up with the beds and shelter. Great idea, strop and winch attached about 2m up the tree, pulled tight with a massive tarp over it and pegged down. We easily fit 7 stretchers under there.
Dave lasted 1 beer and into bed, shattered. (Poor old man) A few more bevys later and the rest of us start hitting they hay. 3am I'm lulled to sleep by the frogs and other creatures of the night.

7am I awake to what I think is a frog just under Daves bed. Wake up a bit more only to realise KK is snoring.....like a frog?? WTF. Now is a good time to get up and have a look around while the rest of the lazy sods sleep.

Camp3.jpg

Fantastic spot, sort of like a peninsula arrangement, with 2 rivers flowing past, one down each side until they merge at the fork.

Camp4.jpg

Daves up and breakfast is underway. A nice big hot milo and fried potatoes fill us up. Oh and some strange sweet Malaysian bread..(I can't remember the name of)

Around 10am we are all packed up and its my privilege to drive Daves baby all the way back to the airport. Not a difficult track, but it has lots of hidden dangers.

The Orang Asli villagers maintain the campsite and we pay them at 15RM per truck and Dave donates 50kg of rice to them. Thanks Dave.
Interesting people, all of 4foot5 or not much more, but strong as an ox.

Orang Asli.jpg

Its much busier on the track home with everyone out and about, including Mr Lizzy

Oh that clunk turned out to be the bushes in the front trailing arms. Shagged from the previous weeks bog fest. Its louder and more severe as we cruise along the tarmac again. No more than 90km/h as we convoy down the motorway.
Paul decides to start utilizing two lanes and quickly pulls over with a rapidly deflating tyre. Everyone sits around and watches Dave change it :D

We all part ways and I continue the drive to KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and arrive bang on time 1pm. The truck always gets everyone's attention. I drag my sweaty self, suitcase and bag from the truck and Dave hauls it out of there in a cloud of fury and diesel...almost to quick to get on camera :D

Airport.jpg

All I want to do now is checkin, have a shower and food...stuffed and not looking forward to the journey home.

Dave, KK, Paul, thanks again for an awesome time. You are just like us, any excuse to get the trucks out, no matter how absurd.

Cheers
Ants

Fullthrottle its all out pleasure to do a mad nite run rest assured we will be having more mad nite runs in 2013.

PS you forgot to mention that 13B-T engine is better than any nissan engine hahaha. If that had been a nissan you would have got 20 high quality slow mo shots not a 1KZ killing 13B-T engine hahahaha

and the snake appears to be a rarer wolf nocturnal snake :)

Yup the trailing arm bushes are shot we still managed to drive it another 400k saturday night 130kph was the top speed attained :)
