Macetown Miners camp Trip 16th-17th March

Postby Dirtydog » Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:16 pm

Anyone else going to this event?

Ill be heading up with my Terrano, and keen to meet some people off here.

looks like a very mild track with a couple of water crossings, mate has made it in a stock terrano no problems a couple of times, so sounds like more of a heritage trip than a 4wd trip.

nothing too hard then?

think ill be allright, at least 5 inches higher than stock terrano, so wont need to worry about snorkel or anything extravagant?

I have only walked in and out of there.
Some of those crossings can be quite deep with holes, and can be swift.

I wouldn't be driving in there, if it rains, without a snorkel.

Easy trip and can be done in 2wd in good conditions, however if it has been wet then the rivers can be a little swift and high enough for a snorkel. Just stick to the formed tracks and you will be sweet.

This event has already been postponed once due to river levels and they were not that high, this particular miners trip is for shinys so any 4wd with low box will do.

Have you got your terreno rego and WOF for this trip?

can always "tow" it behind a mates truck, cant get fined for that, and i dont see a car shase on the macetown track from a cop.

What do you think....

Yes! This is an event organised by the department of conservation on a public road!

Many other weekends you could get away with it but to take an un wof, un certified, un reg, un tested truck away in these circumstances would be a little silly would it not....?

Bah to you too

Slightly different circumstances there man....!

It'd just be a shame for the dirtydog to get his terreno all the way up there to be turned back
