Re: what type of 2 post hoist to get???

Deciding on a 2 Post hoist. Jeez wish I had your problems :D A pit/ramp pit will be a whole lot cheaper and easier and may even fit where you are. You'll need a good foundation for a hoist. I wouldn't expect you could bolt it to the average garage floor. Second hand 3ph gear I would generally expect...

hey that's close to me, can check it out. Might take a patrol mate with me, who knows these rigs. ZD is a nono.
QD not bad. More of a car engine than proper 4x one.
Pretty hard to go past the old TDs.

12.7 is low and may be drawing down too much current, causing voltage drop tripping out the cutoff.
Primary side should be 14.4 when running.

on behalf. 90s Long Chassis Utes.

Hilux or L200, maybe Narvas or Mazda Bs
Ideally tray will accomodate full sheets of ply/GIB but we can frame up a wellside.
Rough OK within reason, WOF/Reg required.

Re: TD42 missing at 1800 rpm

FWIW I run a K&N washable/oiled filter in mine. Spend a lot of time on gravel, and manage to pick up all kinds of road grime sludgy crap as well. When performance (such as it is :P ) drops off I generally give it oil and filters.

What's the IP? Once this gets too technical I need to seek professional help but it's worth trying a few obvious things first :D Injector pump. If it's auto, I blame the box.

If not. How many KM since: Air cleaner? Injectors?
Check rubber lines/connections for vacuum leaks
There's also a secondary gauze filter atop the IP. Remove and clean.

Definitely keep it in lower gear. And If you can fit a trans-cooler, that's even better.

Y60. Based 40km North of Whangarei but will obviously pay shipping.

Grille and clips, L+R corner lights, LH quarter guard.

Any one with parts? or I'll just go trademe, or lube up and go see Dave

Yup sounds like sticking hub. In the olden times you would have to reverse off them. 93 shouldn't be an issue though. Tearing them down isn't hard and if they haven't been done since 93, probably overdue.

I know you discount backlash, but check it. Jack the back, 4th gear, have your apprentice turn it forward, then back. Look for slop in the uni's, loose hangers, if it's in diff then it'll have to be felt through the hub.

Re: running wires through firewall safari

The above is good advice, except they tend to rust on seams, not so easy to drill! There is a drain/bung/breather behind carpet on passenger side footwell (also exhaust manifold side) which you can poke wires through if you're precious about drilling. I can't remember if you have to remove the heate...

cheers guys. Have access to a lathe but not skilled up enough on it so don't want to make up such critical parts. Besides wouldn't you need a very specific cutting tool to give the right pitch etc (cutting internal thread, FWIW)? Might cost more than thread taps? . Bits can be ground easily enough ...

Chuck it in the lathe and single point it. Engineering 101.

I might also suggest that turnbuckles could be found at rigging or marine supply outfitters.

Oh yeah, the D40 narvas have a good bit of pull, not sure about getting 33s on though. Also Not much clearance underneath, much more of a car.

Y61 Safari. Job done. TB45/8 will be more comfy on road, TD42 for real work. I believe the 4.8 petrols aren't as well matched to the box, (haven't driven) (4spd vs 5) but 4spd auto's not too bad. If you don't need to pull big stuff the TD27 terrano's go good as well, but not sure about post-2000 mod...

Pin punch and hammer works for me. If I want to be precise with a torque wrench I'll weld a couple bits of rod to a socket.
I managed to track down a proper cup socket when I had the L200, can't recall what size it is.
Should be able to be ordered anywhere that stocks Powerbuilt or Teng

My first thought would be rubbish OEM speaker wiring, possibly shorted - it's not that hard to drag new stuff, and I would recommend re-wiring everything (power and earch as well) Second would be the configuration on the head unit - it may switch between Amp-out (line level) and speaker-out. And if ...
