A bit more explaination, Rev counter , rev section is analogue , at the bottom from left to right is the "D,N,R,P" indicator, clock, and wheels to indicate 2 or 4 wheel drive, and under the clock is the air temperature. Excluding the "D,N,R,P" indicator the other 3 have been partially or completely ...

Re: automatic runaway in manual mode
Started the decent in 1st and the gears self changed up. That time I got away with it as the ground was only greasy. This is the first time it has happened. Would have been different in the wet. Stopping each time and forcing 1st gear several times seemed to "train" ecu to hold 1st . Climbing the ...

automatic runaway in manual mode
Navara D40 2010 automatic 4x4 The auto box has a manuel mode where you tap the gear stick to the left and tap down/- to drop a gear and tap up/+ to go up a gear. In 2wd and 4x4 Hi this works text book perfect. BUT in 4x4 Lo in manual mode the gearbox self shifted like it was in D. At the time I was ...

Re: lemon seats
Mudlva, I know that was a smart comment. Seats aside , it is a very good vehicle. The seat problem ruins it. Crash bandicoot, when I changed the seat foam I spent a week driving and rasping the foam to shape to get as comfortable as possible. This went backwards when the leather went back on the ...

Re: lemon seats
mudlva, if I had the money this ute would be long gone. It is literally a pain-in-the-arse! Crash bandicoot, I don't follow. I have already replaced the seat pan foam, and no fix. Do you mean replace the leather? Or do you mean change the seat pan frame and bolt the seat back to the new pan? Note ...

2010 stx 4x4 auto
Mechanicly excellent. Ergonomicly not so good. Make VERY sure the seat is comfortable and is set to correct height. I am tall and can't get seat low enough. I was planning to change the seat , but it turned out to be an airbag model and impractical(to expensive) to change.

Re: sucking air into injector pump
Hello crash bandicoot, yes I am moderately handy with spanners. It is just a matter of time as the silage season is just hitting full steam. I have another vehicle ,so I am not in a hurry.
I am confident getting the injector pump off , but not so sure about working on the pump itself.

Update
The gearbox ecu was at fault, and failing.
Tried several ecu's and the best was a nissan caravan unit. I tweaked the tps to optimise the gear shift points and it is working textbook perfect.

Re: d21 torque converter won't stay locked
Hello crash bandicoot, The 4th gear lock up worked perfectly with the old engine/dead rev counter combination. Why should it suddenly not work with a change of engine? There is no engine ecu to talk to. Also a friend said to try stopping and restarting the engine to see if the t/c would lockup when ...

Re: d21 torque converter won't stay locked
The engine and gearbox are out of 2 separate nissan mistrals. When the gearbox was changed so was the torque converter (matched pair I was told) The TPS was swopped out of the old engine which worked perfectly with the first gear box. The nissan dealer has reset the TPS twice now. The gearbox ecu ...
