There was a fella on Trade Me selling brackets that bolt up to the rear diff housing and mount front discs and calipers off a 413. You will need proportioning valve etc if on road but its certainly do-able. Have 413 discs on the rear of my wagon, its running early 90's sammy rear.

Its the BIG question that is. What tyres best? I know that Hankook are a good tyre at a reasonable cost, OK off road and good K's, Firestone ATX, Wranglers, all ok for on/off road, best to see what the price is and then make your decision. (but dont blame me if its wrong)

Toyota pto winches are 8000lb as far as I know, they are plenty for a Daihatsu. You could look for a factory PTO off a Dai Rocky/Rugger. I ran one on a 40 series cruiser and it winched me thru a lot of mud and hills and never failed. And it should bolt straight up.

The guy in our club was running 33's on his samurai and they may have tougher sidewalls than the 31's. They worked well but didn't bite as well on the lighter wagon as they do on a big whale. Beadlocks are really worthwhile to get maximum performace from centipedes as they need to flex to help clear ...

Simex's are a great tyre

But need some weight and low pressure to be really appreciated. The heavy sidewalls mean they dont flex much. I ran 5lbs pressure on a beadlocked cruiser and you hardly noticed the walls bowing. On a Suzuki you can run 1-2lbs pressure and they'll still spin up.

The Huts Genny will run 240v or 12v electrics so you can bring all the toys! Big Bar-b-Q too. A lot of the tracks are pretty tough but boy its fun in there. I think I'll be over the Wairarapa that weekendon a club trip otherwise I'd be in.

yeah probably the best bet, you can always do the head, cam, inlet and exhaust fairly cheaply if its still a bit under powered.

I've got the Swift twin cam 1300 in mine. Its a fairly easy swap, and bolts straight up to the box etc. 100hp in stock trim. But they are getting pricey to buy. I assume your wagons roadleagal? Otherwise the options are limitless.

They are handy on the odd occasion, I carry one, but I am usually travelling with others who have high lifts. They will lift on soft ground that a HL jack will sink in, and you can use them to push a vehicle sideways off banks etc, but If you only have one jack, make it a high lift, they are much ...

A guy in our club has put a Volvo penta boat v6 with twin rx7 turbos, intercooler and external wastegates and auto into a rover coiled Fj40 ...

That beasty in the photo was running a 2.2 petrol hilux engine that had been re-cammed for better torque. It worked well. If you are running Hilux diffs/Transfer you should be able to run any engine combo up to around 3.0l without any problems. Plenty of v8 hiluxes around so they must be fairly tough.

Yeah no probs in finding 413 engines. I've got one spare too. If you want an easy transplant and good horsepower, find a Suzuki Swift Twin Cam EFI . It'll bolt straight up to your 5spd and you get 100hp and the reliability of efi.

Check the wreckers for Barina starters, they should be identical. Alternators too, much cheaper than buying a 'Suzuki' one.

All the 3.9's etc will fit in with a minimum of fuss. I've been told by a rangie nut mate, that the early analogue 3.5 efi system is better than the later digital efi for hard off roading, and will bolt straight on and run a 3.9.

Tubes will let you drop pressure down to around 15psi mark, but you will still run the risk of rolling the bead. While your tyre wont deflate you will get alot of crap into the tyre. Around Red Rocks, that bloody sand gets everywhere. 30psi doesnt sound very low, you may have a slight bit of damage ...

I bought a couple of cheapies off Trade Me ($50 for two still in packaging) and they are working fine. I'd rather lose a cheap one than a good one into the mud. The dearer types are more powerful and transmit clearer, further thats for sure.

Hi D1HARD. Ring Brian Howatt (sp) an engineer in Lower Hutt, he does an excellent job, can be certified too. I supplied rims and he charged about $80 per rim to beadlok. Ran 35"Simexes at 5psi on a V8 cruiser and never had a problem. Now have a Zuk with 33's and B/loks. Brilliant.
