Had the same idea, have used the slow move through neutral and reverse rocking etc. But still seems to play up on occasion, will end up getting it checked out soon.

barring a couple of times have had great difficulty shifting back to 2WD in my 1997 Pajero 3.5L. I assume it doesn't take too much finnesing as a local dealer managed to slam it in! But agreed to take a closer look if it continued. Idea's appreciated. Still pretty green on the 4WD scene!
