Toyota Prado RX for sale...SOLD
We are going down to one vehicle now that I have 'finally' retired. Selling both our cars (the other is a Honda Jazz Sport), and buying 'something' new. Anyway, my little wagon has to go. My garage guys call it the 'Much Loved Prado'. 1996, 16700kms, 3 litre diesel. has electric sunroof, etc. I put ...

I've heard good things about AMC cylinder heads. Spanish made. These guys are only a small ditch away. http://www.smsdiesel.com.au/cylinder-heads/kzj95-3-0l-1kzte-9-1999-9-2002?category=ae5e0724-d3c0-452c-8dc7-5accb112a245 I read many years ago that the genuine (original) Toyota heads were made in ...

Late model Grand Cherokee diesel
We are looking at downsizing our home, and getting a caravan (about the 7m+ length). Looked at a few options as the tow vehicle. We do go out with a group of 4x4 travellers for a few trips each year too. Not hard core scrambling over large rocks, etc. No snorkels needed (usually) either. Thought ...

Re: Gas shock query
Sorted...thanks guys. I took the Gabriels off, and the local suspension guy checked them. They are OK, but very stiff acting. Probably OK for the weight of a Hi Lux or a 5 door Prado but my little 3 door was a tad too light in the bum end. Put on a softer set of Ultima gas shocks and they are ...

Re: Gas shock query
Sorry, I see what you mean now. I've decided to take them off and bung on some new ones, plus new springs (and maybe shocks) for the front end. It's about 1" too low at the front compared to another couple of Prado's I know. So possibly a combination of saggy front springs and too stiff gas shocks ...

Gas shock query
My series 90 Prado came with Gabriel 'Blue Ryder' gas shocks fitted to the rear suspension. On some series of rough bits the shocks seem to be 'caught out' a bit and allow quite a solid thump through into the cab. I've put new rear springs in (standard height) as I thought maybe the springs were a ...

PRS capable handheld for sale.
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1103054801&ed=true Yes, it's mine. It's a 'proper' handheld and requires an Amateur licence. Can be set up as a PRS 80 channel hand held, or simply as a scanner for Police, etc. But because it also transmits on such a broad spectrum you still need a ...

Prado series 90 front springs/shocks
Just looking for a pair of front shocks and springs for the 1996 Prado. Standard height as Missus is a 'shorty'! Nothing worn and buggered please, but can't really go all out with new stuff either. Mine are looking a wee tad down. The front bump stops on lower arms are only about 30mm from the ...

Snorkel on a 1996 Prado
Looking at fitting a snorkel just in case I find a deep bit one day. Prado is Series 90 with 1KZ diesel. I found this on TM http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/other-accessories/auction-1077890158.htm I asked the seller about fitting my Prado (mid 1996) but he reckons it won't fit ...

Re: own a ford courier
Water pump could be knackered, hoses collapsed internally (they might look OK on the outside, but are buggered internally, blocking water flow). Air flow through radiator (as mentioned earlier) can be stuffed up by having dirt/mud jamming the fins. Have you checked that air can flow properly through ...

Hi,
I'm in Richmond, Nelson so probably a tad too far.
Thanks though. If I have no luck locally I'll get in touch with you about yours.
Cheers.

Rear coil springs for series 90 RX Prado needed.
The previous owner fitted Gabriel gas shocks to the rear end, but didn't do the springs. There's a bit of sag back there! Probably original (20 years old) springs. I'd like to keep standard height. Missus is a shorty too, and has trouble getting in already, so no 2" lifts, etc needed. Ideally I'd ...

Re: Transmission oil change on 1996 Isuzu wizard
It's OK BlakeNZ, I know Gazza, he's a genuine guy! Poor old sod turned 70 the other day. Got his gearbox and transfer case mixed up. I did find it interesting that the transfer case only held 1.9 litres of oil. Is that the total amount? Seems so tiny. Mind you, I have no idea what my Prado holds ...

Thanks.

Toyota 1KZ-TE cracked/buggered head wanted.
I'm having a look at the cracking head problem on the Toyota 1KZ-TE. The bottom mounted thermostat doesn't help at all. I need a 'spare' head to play with to make up and fit an adaptor. If you are in the Nelson area and have a buggered head that I could 'borrow' for a couple of months then I would ...

Yes, they do, but they don't know the cST rating of it.skidmark wrote:Bnt also sell viscous fan fluid, 20 bucks or so for 100ml by memory
I checked with them too (they are local to me), but as they can't tell me what rating the oil is it's not much use.

Re: New Radiator, Thermostat and Trans Cooler for my KZN185
Re the silicone oil to refill the viscous hub. I went to Toyota just a few weeks ago for this very same thing. Their silicone is only 15ml (if I remember right) per tube, but the hub holds 50ml (you really should strip it apart and drain all the old silicone oil out of it). So, you will need 3 tubes ...

Re: PRADO 120 - temp going up with hills
The Surf's don't have a very reliable temp gauge anyway (if it's the standard factory fitted one). They are slow to react to temp changes, so it probably was getting hotter but not showing it. How hot does your Prado gauge read? I just added a VDO temp gauge to mine as the Prado gauge is fairly ...

Re: Toyota Prado Series 90 (1996) hose dimensions?
Well, all sorted. Tapped out that blind hole to M14 x 1.5, then drilled the bottom of the hole through into the waterway. Did the final part of the drilling with a well greased drill bit to allow the metal swarf to stick to the drill and not fall into the waterway. Kept the radiator cap on and so ...
Re: 95 prado
You could ask these guys to just convert your body to a ute.
http://www.uteconversions.com/
May be cheaper to wreck what you have and buy a good going ute to start with?
Or buy a reasonable ute and put the V8 into that.

Thanks tweake, good point. I've had a look on Trade Me and seems to be a fair amount of 'no name' China made stuff. Only difference seems to be the colour of the paint used. To get a more radiator style what could be recommended from the Trade Me listings? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts ...

Trans oil cooler for a Prado?
I've stripped, cleaned and refilled my viscous fan clutch, and sorted out my water temperature gauge (bought a VDO unit, threw the dodgy clock away and put the gauge into the clocks space). It looks quite neat sitting there. Now I'm looking at a trans oil cooler too. May get a wee caravan soon as ...
