Thanks Jtop, I will follow your advice. Is this rust issue a manufacturing issue that I can fix with a regular maintenace regime (rust proofing) If it's model-wide I would suspect a design fault such as a drain position or exposed joint etc.

Thinking of buying. Rust free and low k's for age. If it's indicative of more serious probs I might hold off and I'll be sending it through the AA too but thought I might get a heads up

How do? I am looking at a 92 2.7 non turbo but the tappets are a little noisy. How much is involved in tuning them up? I have no probs doing this with a petrol car. Much difference with a diesel truck Any info helps
