Re: Hilux Surf buying guide
Hi, If you can find a manual they have less problems seem to occur most in the Auto's and Towing. Part of this could be the trans cooler is in the radiator and blocking some of the flow. If the KZ is not getting up to temp then it is likely the thermostat has been pulled, this is a sign it has been ...

I chose to make my winch removable as it is a dd, but when I looked at mid mount (back under te tray) I was going to mount it backwards to go around a pulley and back forward but could not get a straight line without getting too close to the exhaust. How often do you winch backwards where you are ...

Rochound I have an odd question but... You made the front clip removable so you had access to the engine, but it does not look like you have made the exo removable. so here is the question, can you still remove the front clip with the exo or is it Sawzall time then remove the clip? Or do you have a ...

Has anyone been up this way to see what has happened further upriver? There is a lot of damage to the riverbed and some "land wave" style formations that will wash out to sea as soon as the river floods. Beware of pea gravel in the river if you go have a look fut it would be interesting especially ...

Sorry Al, combined and others. I brought this back up because of the issue and the fall back option (that is what it looked like from the position I was in), I also advised the NZ4WDA of the issue to bring as much lobby pressure onto this as possible from their membership. This does not excuse ...

Well right now the draft plan is in place and under it ONLY the combined club has access, to be fair to combined I do think they pushed for everyone to have access but by them putting up the fall back option (for themselves) the loudest voices have said use that. There are a few differences between the older and newer engines, I know of two people to fit the newer 2.4's because that is what they had but there were a lot of little things they both had to change.
They both made the swap happen tho.

Yeah I hope it works as well Smokey. It has 2 fans on a 4 core alloy rad with full shroud. I didn't have a lot of joy with the radiator setup last time so I had to put a rear mount in as well as the front one. I don't really want to go through all that again, so fingers crossed I guess If it is ...

Re: Air Down Or Not To Air Down?
In a light 4wd like a Suzuki it may not work this way as they skip over the top, what I have found with mud is if you lower your pressures it has a wider footprint that sucks up more loose mud, and by the time you have you have spun the wheels enough to find grip you just dug a wider longer channel ...

Should I fit traction aids? Are they the answer? What was the question? Many people believe that a 4WD and traction go hand in hand… you can’t have one without the other. However, your vehicle’s standard (or open) differential is designed to allow each wheel to turn independently, thus eliminating bi ...

What size tahs do I need? "What are the biggest tires I can put on with what my suspension lift?" A: It depends on why you want taller tires. If you want to look cool, slap on the biggest set you can fit under the guards and ignore the rubbing. If you want better off road ability, read on. I suggest ...
