yeah they use the one off the swift gti engine over there, think you need 16v block as the pistons need the 4 indents in them. Anybody know if the head off the 1.3l samurai will work and improve performance?

All fixed! turned out it was just a vacuum hose from the carb that had fallen off(a little one very hard to see). As for the exhaust, its pretty free flowing only one high flow muffler on it. Cheers

no I checked that today seems fine, i did get a new 2 inch exhaust on Friday though so maybe been running too rich and fouled up the plugs? Might explain the running after turned off if carbon on plugs still glowing. Guess it might explain rough idle at times as well as it drives fine all the other ...

Thought reconditioning sounded a bit steep so got a second hand one from wrecker for $80 and put that in. Old one had started grinding metal off the teeth that hook it up.

Vitara Starter Motor

Starting to get some pretty nasty grinding noises straight after startup on my Vitara for about 3 seconds. Is this fixable? Or do I need to go get a new one or one from the wreckers? Dont want to spend too much so any advise appreciated (poor student). Any idea what this will cost me?

Thanks for your opinions. Yeah i've heard about the heads cracking on them, it got a new one of those as well when it got the rebuild along with the free-flow and snorkel. I was looking at paying around 5 so I think I might go ahead with it as I find the rebuilt engine pretty attractive. Cheers
