Still with problems

I'm coming to the conclusion that that's probably what I'll have to do. This seems to be wrong to me for a vehicle of this type. There must be a reason - I just don't know what it is. I'd like to know what it is though. Any ideas if the transmissions computer can be fooled to get around with this. I ...

Still with problems

I tried the two Toyota garages around here. Their answer was to pass the problem onto the other garage. One tried thier 80 series '96 cruiser but had the same result. Theirs did it so it must be right. I explained the dangers about this type of change when off road - they just shrugged thier ...

Still with problems

The vehicle is an 80 series Landcruiser. It does have button to start it off in second. I've tried it on a steep track with a load of people on it but it doesn't seem to make any difference. When I tried the 94 - 80 series cruiser in low range it changed nice and smoothly. Still haven't looked to ...

RE: Auto Unit US?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've had a quick look underneath in the car park. There are quite a few plugs under there. I much prefer something I can see working! I'll have to find out what the auto unit is but mine doesnt' have a 4WD button. Just put it into low range and it locks the centre diff ...

"What's it doing?"

The problem is in low ratio - I was expecting it to change up smoothly just as it does in high. In reality, I have to rev the engine over 3000rpm to get it to shift - then it does with big lurch. I'd hate to be on a slippery slope when this happens. I've tried a '94 and it's nothing like this - nice ...

Reply to Diesel Boy

Thanks for the thoughts. I would hope that this wasn't the way they were designed! Reving the nuts loose isn't they way I would expect it to behave off road. I'd hate to think what it would be like if I was trying to get up a slippary hill!! Tried doing the manual shifting but didn't seem to make ...

Low range not changing gear

Anyone any ideas? My 96 80 Series cruiser auto doesn't believe it's in low range! To make it change in low range I have to rev its nuts loose! Took it down to the local Toyota garage - they didn't seem to know anything!! They tried one they had on their lot and that was the same. I was thinking that ...

Cruiser low range problems

Any ideas on this problem? I have an 80 series Cruiser auto that only has one low range gear. This is the first auto I've owned and was expecting it to be the same as a manual. EG 4 high and 4 low Is there something I'm doing wrong? I've tried talking to it nicely but it doesn't make any difference ...

Hi Greg

I have an 80 Series Cruiser diesil that does 7.7km per litre or 13ltrs per 100kms.

Doesn't seem to make any difference to the load carried.

Cheers

Julian
