Does anyone have any replacment spring bushes im after a complete set as i have discovered that my extremly severe steering shudder is cumin from to much play. When i say severe i have to come to a complete stop!!

Yes the 3 had syncro on 2nd up the 2 has syncro on 3rd&4th only but with 2a and the2a suffix b is their any markings or tell tail sign on the outside of the box? sounds like they layshaft bearing is coming to bits and the reverse gear sits on the layshaft ,there are no particular oils that will quieten it down if they are worn they are worn. hope that helps This does help thanks PBL now that you say it it makes perfect sence as to why the reverse makes such ...

I changed the oil in it today and apart from being a bit milky from a bit of water it was good as gold no fileings or lumps clean as its got me stuffed as what this noise is and why in reverse its fine for about 15-20 feet then all of a sudden it sounds so crunchy i am at an ends with tryin to work ...

S2a boxes were the strongest ones. Drop in a Suffix "b" gearbox for lower gearing in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Otherwise, I have a hilux box and tranfer in the surf for sale As luck would have it i have a s2 box sittin in my back yard do the s2 and the s3 top gear stay the same? so would i lose any road ...

Yep sorry i meant no hand brake on the disks. If it was me settin it up i would definitley set it up with hand brake on the disks and vented disks may not be the only way to go how about slotted or cross drilled they would prob clear water/mud even better than just vented disks wouldnt they? I guess ...

have you got an oil bath airfilter ?? if so remove and use the rubber pipe directly off the carb and fit drain pipe up the window frame, i mounted a filter on the top of mine, actually looked quite proffesional, might have a pic somewhere, might be thinking pre digital camera tho Nope its a barrel ...

I just swaped the enigine in my series3 and had a similar experience with the clutch and was praying to god i didnt need to pull the engine out again as it is the easiest way into those damn things and mine is an ld28 (heavy) not a fun thing to do. Im lucky on that side of things when they set it up for the ld they used a truck barrell type and the intake is already pointing to the gaurd so half the work has been done for me just need to make the holes in the ally for the pipes to go thru and fab up the pipe work around and hour and half or so ...

I made the mistake of takin my s3 landy with its ld28 thru a puddle i didnt check first turns out they really really dont like water much. I have bent a rod into a nice u shap from this lesson thankfully it was only a quick look on trademe to fix my mistake $250 and a newish motor NO MORE SWIMMING ...
