Re: FJ40 steel guards wanted...
yeah well I never had any problem driving around in the city, but apparently there is a police college out this way somewhere and they often put up road-blocks for 'training purposes'. haven't encountered one yet but don't want to push my luck. as such just putting something on for the wof won't cut ...

Willing to do a ...

skid, thanks, i think that's what i'm after, i guess any brakes place can sort me out?

have swapped over the front axle and now have discs on the front ('81 FJ40). sweet - brakes in a straight line, and pulls up hard - too hard. a little inattention and it's easy to lock them up, even at low speeds stepping on the brake hard will induce a skid. brakes coming on too hard?? is ok in ...

Re: Show us your Toyota
That's a nice looking 40 Zebedee. Reckon it would be a shame to rough it up aye - as i learned on that excursion, not every track in woodhill is meant for 4 wheels. and with no lid on i ended up with an awful lot of tree parts in the truck. oh, and it's embarrassing to have to come out backwards ...

Re: block huggers on SBC400?
ta for the input. have some already so i'll have a look and see how they line up at least - custom sounds, umm, well expensive. not that running a 40 with a 6.6L engine was ever gonna be cheap, but THE LIST keeps growing. you know how it is....sort the caster due to recent spring lift, organise roll ...

block huggers on SBC400?
anyone have any experience with putting block huggers on a SB Chev 400? I bought some huggers, but an engine reconditioning guy I spoke to said he did it once (in a cortina, mind!!) and it reduced the torque he was getting. took 'em off and put the standard extractors back on. well before i put them ...

Spent my time in Northern Burma where I had a WW2 era dodge M37 to rattle around in. Rattle being the operative word. 6 months later, headed back to NZ and an old friend from the UK (who lives in Africa) was in NZ and wanted to do a road trip round the south island. I was WELL up for that, had been ...

cruiser story
In the beginning....was working in Trinidad and Tobago, and saw a poor, neglected '40 sitting in a lot on the side of the road. I'd been shopping for a vehicle a bit more solid than the ever-present Suzuki tin can rentals, and thought it would do the job. Bought it, had it sent to a shop for a tidy ...
