Re: Suzuki vitara diesel info please...
i have heard of a couple of early deisel vitaras doing 400km, but the number of prematurely dead ones far outway the good. The Pug motors in the grand vitara do have issues with water running down through the top mount intercooler and rusting 2 of the INJECTORS, not just the glow plugs into the head ...

Re: Vitara CV Shaft Lengths
The 1600 early escudos/vitara are the shortest front axles
the early V6 shape are the longest front axles (approx 20mm longer), and the 98-05 shape Grand vitaras are smack bang in the middle between the two.

Re: v6 suzuki ideas ??
they all need the timing chains, tensioners & guides replaced, the 2.5 and 2.7 motor need them done every 180ish km, and the h20a needs them done sooner (depends on how well maintained it has been)

if not maintained I have seen H25A's throw chains at 140km, with a bit of maintainence they go 190ish, if well looked after they will do 250ish.

Re: recommendation on what motor is the best
For a vitara I would go for the J20, the V6's have timing chain issues and the G16's crack blocks and heads. Haven't heard of anyone having issues with a J20 though. Only the H20A has the timing chain issue. Well he did say Vitara, not Grand Vitara and the H20 is the only V6 available in the Vitara ...

Re: small diesel engine in to zucki
I think if you get stones under your cambelt it's going to be the start of some pretty expensive repair bills regardless of what engine it is. I'm sure that doesn't apply purely to an F9Q engine. How are parts not available for them? PSA (pug) diesels are some of the most common in the automotive ...

Re: small diesel engine in to zucki
The RHZ and RHW may be good motors when they are fresh but they have a few issues later down the track, main one being that rain water runs down through the intercooler and rusts No3 & No4 injector into place to the point that they cannot be removed, and they need to come out not only to get ...

Re: VX power steer reservoir leak
Yes it is quite common due to vibration as it is mounted directly to the inlet manifold. Seem to crack around the brackets. Should either rubber mount or onto the body somewhere. Cheers Tim There is also a manufacturing fault with some of them, where by the top isn't crimped properly and leaks ...

early vitara boxes are cable clutch, grand vitara boxes are hydraulic clutch, the early boxes are pretty hardy, the grand vitara boxes aren't. anything can be done with enough know how, time and effort, but why you'd want to go there is another thing.......

with a front mount your making a whole lot more volume that the turbo has to compress due to extra piping etc, and at slow speeds, a water to air or a fan underneath will be able to get rid of the heat easier. spoken like a true keyboard mechanic...... do the maths for a 1HDT and CT26, work out the ...

Re: 80 series V8 Diesel conversion
Has it ever been on a dyno? if so what did it make? You need to cool the intake air down. That is the first thing you NEED to do. it will drop your engine temp, your exhaust temp and put some long term reliability into your set up Change your turbo to something that isn't heating the air so much at ...

1HDT + turbo upgrade + FMIC + Big Bore + Water & meth injection depending on how much boost you run can put you over 600Nm
or if you want to spend more money you could do the same on a transplanted 1HDFTE + chip it and you should be around 700Nm.

1HDT injectors are 2 stage and there is only 2 places in NZ that can recon them properly.
