Body lift does need cert, provided its a "kit" to suit your vehicle and installed propery it should be a breeze. When i had my Rangie certified (body lift kit manufacter not a commercial kit) i said it was a rangie spare kit form Oz, certified no probs!!

If you are emmigrating see how much room is left in the container, or make sure there is room and put your toy in. As a first time immigrant you can bring all of your stuff (car included) duty and tax free. It will need any mod's certified before, and may need some things changing to meet NZ reg's ...

Hi Andrew, I've got a snorkel on my rangie, it's dual fuel, and it works fine 99.9% of the time. The only problem i have encountered with it is when its really windy and when the rev's are at idle, sometimes a BIG wind gust will blow the fire out (puts too much air with the LPG and it stalls), not ...

I'm with scotty, but i would check the "safety relay" solenoid & wiring first. Had this prob with the rangie early in the piece and again when i fitted the bodged HEI. Would start run 2-3 sec's then stop. re ran the wire to the safety relay and all was good again. (Of course the temporary wire i ran ...

The legality side of things is a very valid point, Insurance companies LOVE a reason to not pay out. Keep it legal, flares are no big deal, ditto certifcation to keep it all legal. My rangie is repowered, body lifted, modified brake lines/bracketry, modifed steering arm, 100mm wider track with ...

When i had the Rangie certified they were very particular about the flares covering the tread area of the tyres, but were not worried about the sidewall being beyond the flares. The flares on mine only just cover the tread due to increase offset of my wheels, the BFG muds were OK but a Simex JT2 or ...

Hey Rat, What rims are you running, if steel have a look at getting them reversed. With an additional 50mm offset you might find you will get a lot of lock back, even with 35's. I have 255x85x16 on reversed disco rim's and still have plenty of clearance to trailing arms with out the stops adjusted ...

HEI Conversion for P76 or Rover V8

OK, for those that are interested this is what i needed to fit an HEI to the P76 (tall deck rover) V8. First there was the two donor distributers, with the std rover for comparison, http://www.enzemble.co.nz/solihl/3%20dizzys.jpg This is the buick V6 that supplied the body for the conversion http ...

Hi Bodge, Well its all in and pulls like a school boy. It starts fine hot or cold, petrol or LPG. Only done about 10-12km in it so far but the difference is huge. Gave it a run on "closed roads" last night and pulled hard to 135 on LPG, and when i backed off it was still pulling strong. It has built ...

It's got the rover cover/pump etc. What i had to grind was the front of the intake manifold by the bolt as i could not get the distributer in. Had to take about 1/4" off to make it fit. Still very tight but it works, just fouls on the cap a bit limiting the amount of timing adjustment, can only get ...

Hi Bodge Here is a couple of pic's. A word of warning it's not a very pretty engine bay. Anyway this first pic
http://www.enzemble.co.nz/solihl/HEI&Std.jpg

shows the size difference between a std rover and the HEI unit, the HEI is massive. Thinking about it, it probably would fit easier ...

Well it runs!

Had a bit of success last night, after about 1 hour with the grinder attacking the inlet manifold and shaving part of the dissy housing i finally got the HEI in, what a PITA!! It is a VERY tight fit, but it did reward me by starting with just a touch of the key, despite being about 40 degrees ...

Thanks for tha Rat, but i'm now well on the way to a Rover HEI. I have found a Buick V6 Dissy with the same shaft dimensions as the std rover V8 dissy, and have converted it to an 8cyl using a mix of Oldsmobile reluctor etc and fitted it off with chev cap & coil. Fires a blue spark about 1/2" to 3/4 ...

Hi Richard, Can't remeber the make of the ignition, but it basically has a chopper system like a luminition that feeds a control box which fires the coil. Hi Rex, Hmm 4.4 or a chev, i must admit it had crossed my mind and while i have a love of SB chevs the leyland will stay for a while. While it would be easy to fit the chev (no they do not mount the same, but the conversion is common) my rangie has a good balanced feel to it as it is, good ...

Rover dissy body and/or parts wanted

Looking at trying to overcome my rangies biggest problem, reliable spark! Just need to look at water and it splutters and often dies which is not good. LPG also has problems as soon as spark gets weak. I'm running an aftermarket electronic system in std dissy, bigger coil, some custom H/D leads ...

John also has measurements he used for his calculations, which may be of some use, even though it is for a disco.

I have reversed Disco rims on mine, not the cheapest way to go but you can set them up with the offset you require to suit your RR & tyre combo. Mine were about $55 a rim to have split & reversed. Have it done by a pro then there are no cetification issues. With the extra 50mm offset the 255x85's ...

Axle - she went BANG, BUT Thanks to Bodge it lived again!

Well i had a few dramas a couple of weeks ago, the fish were biting so i went and picked up the old man, put the rods on the roof rack ond off fishing we would go. Shocks are great. Went to Whangamata yesterday and they transformed the hill road. Even with 1/2 tonne of wood inside & on roofracks, two big guy & tools they made a HUGE diference in ride & handling. Probably the best $200 i have spent on the rangie to date!

Anyone wrecking (as in parting out) a rangie?

A friend is looking at a stock, very low Km 74 rangie. Only downside is no power steer so he may be in the market for box, pump, lines etc if anyone is wrecking one.

Go body lift first

I personally think body lift is the way to go. My rangie is still stockish sprung with 40mm body lift and have no issues with vibes, castor etc but have plenty of clearance for the tyres. Although they are a bit more work i think its the way to go.
