Re: Thompsons track reopen
Te Aroha side is like a highway, drove straight up there in a stock safari with A/T's on Sunday low 3rd and 4th gear all the way except for a couple of stream/drain crossings and the playground at the top.

Re: td27t gearbox rebuild
If you want to do it the cheap (for now) and easy(for now) way and just replace the two that are most likely the most stuffed (the two at the front end of the box) these can be done without taking apart the gearset. Just did mine today, all up about a two hour job for both. (Not including pulling ...

1990 TD27 Terrano manual
Hey guys, Just let the escudo go and replaced it with a Terrano. Basically as fun as the escudo was and as much as i enjoyed it, i couldn't fit a bunch of mates and dive/fishing/camping gear in it and head away somewhere so needed something a tad bigger Question is: Let's say, ummm, cough cough, the ...

Re: anyone got a blown escudo gear box lying round ?
Hey man sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, bloody net's been down and haven't been able to get a message to you It is a straight rod with the lever on the end of it (for the clutch cable) and off the rod comes two 'fingers' which control the movement of the thrust bearing... sound like the ...

Hi there,
I've got an old gearbox at home, i'm in Hamilton. I'll have a double check tonight and make sure the part you are after hasn't gone walkabouts and get back to you.
Cheers
Ike

Am I dreaming or does the front end of weemsy's look different to yours, daymo? Mine is the same as yours with the tube from one side to the other... unless i am going blind I was planning on doing the same as zooky but was more inclined to have it facing downwards, I still have my factory tie down ...

Cheers for all the input guys, first of all is getting it back up to spec before the modifying... have sorted most of the leaks etc and have bought a new gearbox (well, second hand, but new to me) which will be going in tomorrow morning. So far have done: Head gasket heater hose and heater elbow-to ...

Woohoo, so i finally bit the bullet and splashed out... got what i think is a good deal for something with stuffed gearbox (but they are cheap anyway) Couple of questions though: how do you guys find the easiest way of getting at the dizzy to check points gap etc? she's in a pretty awkward position ...

Re: 1kzte boost gauge
Cheers for that mate, much appreciated! Yep, it did help too, i'm still struggling to figure out why the needle would be jumping around in the first place... especially with no throttle body the pressure between the turbo and intake would be fairly consistent the whole way through (bar a bit of ...

Re: 1kzte boost gauge
first of all: please excuse my ignorance... but plumbing the gauge in where is will not be affected by pressure fluctuations seems to defy the logic of installing one in the first place... i'm used to turbo petrol jappas so maybe this isn't relevant, but i have always wanted to see the pressure ...

Re: TD27T Spigot bush????
I would agree with that method of removing the bush, i've never done it on a terrano but have done over ten of them on skylines etc and that's the best way i have found. Have always bought brand new ones (genuine nissan) and have yet to have to pay over ten bucks for one, so just go and buy one and ...

just to anyone who doesn't believe in this stuff... it works. Some mates and i set one up for a cortina spa pool about three years ago. Gutted a mk5, lined and glassed it, had the motor running from a hoffman voltameter (basically a reverse battery with salty water in it) and although we never ...

just on the topic of what's legal and what's not in terms of locked diffs, i went through this recently with my nissan laurel while getting a WOF at VTNZ (yeah yeah i'm a little hoon... love skids) it is not illegal to have a locked diff. What IS illegal is to have "excessive driveline shudder ...

First of all i'm no mechanic... so don't rely on this... and i've never had a turbo diesel but have had plenty of turbo petrol cars. I found that when i had problems with the pressure not being let go it was usually becasue the actuator had clogged up with shit rather than the wastegate itself ...

Please excuse my ignorance, but wouldn't having a boost compensator be exactly the same as having a slightly more light weight right foot? If the only thing that controls your acceleration in a diesel is the fuel pump, (as opposed to a petrol with a throttle body controlling the airflow) then wouldn ...

Did i just read that right? 13km/L??? That's 7.6L/100km which is on a par with the new euro diesel hatch backs! So for 60L of diesel do you get 780kms? F&*k that's good!
