I run a 2.5" with a straight through muffler. it is only 2.5 from the flex joint back. O.k.......I have done the searches, done the reading, done the testing and it appears that the alternator is not playing the game properly !! With the motor running I was only getting about 11.5 v at the batteries and not so long ago when I was doing other testing I was getting 13.1v minimum and up ...

I have a cunning idea My AC is low on pressure but does still have gas in it and oil, that much I do know It is the older type with the small valves on the compressor so I assume that it runs R12 which no one round here wants to know about. To the best of my knowledge the 2.8 is a fairly straightforward "drop-in"
In addition to this I am told you are able to refit the manifolds off the 2.4 to the 2.8 so that it is a 2.8TD !! :shock:

I've got a 2LT 2.4 turbo in my surf and it is about to roll over to 260k
They need looking after but as said if you care for them they will go for a loooong time
I am led to believe that the 2.8 non turbo is bullet proof and the 3 litre is nearly as good.
